PHLGA Meeting Minutes

Date: November 10, 2022

Call to Order: Vice President Jan Callaghan called the meeting to order at
2:01.
In Attendance: 23 LGA Members
Approval of the Minutes: The October minutes were approved by a majority
vote.
PHCC Proposal Regarding the 2023 LGA:
Presented by Mike Dixon and Nick Finkel with questions and discussion.
As of January, the PHLGA is being rebranded as PH Ladies League.
There will be no more LGA dues paid to the Club. Only fee will be $40 paid to
Sun Country for handicap.
The Ladies League will be run like the MGA with a Board/Tournament LL
Committee which will meet monthly with the Pro Shop to decide on
tournaments and play day games. They intend to keep KK, Member/Member
and the (needs to be renamed) President’s Cup tournaments. The Committee
should consist of at least a President, VP, Treasurer and 9 Hole rep, with other
volunteers. Committee roles are to advise on game choice, keep the books and
discuss tee prizes. The men’s group also solicits donors for tournaments.
Rather than end-of-year points, players pay a minimal fee, perhaps $1-2 to
enter the game that playday and then the winnings are to be divided up at
lunch in either cash or Pro Shop credit form - most lean toward cash.
Our league will establish our own games. Mike suggested that all games should
be Net. Games will be kept very simple. Mike and Nick will help with scoring
and determining winners at lunchtime. We will post our own scores. There will
still be Jill of the Hill each month.
There will be no need to sign up on Golf Genius for tee times, as Mike/Nick will
shotgun our start each week (they agreed after we expressed this preference).
That way, we will be able to play together and lunch together again, which they
realize is important to us. Player groups will be decided randomly as the men

do, by throwing balls or another form of team selection. Nine Hole players will
be scheduled with later tee times so that they finish at the same time.
Border and NM Senior Women membership will still exist under this new
brand. Our club is happy to host a Border event.
-----
Mike and Nick departed, and Jan Callaghan opened the discussion for
Tournament committee.
After the new slate of 2023 officers was elected, it was decided that the officers
and a 9 Hole rep will be on the LL Committee. Kay Frye volunteered to make
contacts for the 9 Hole rep. Linda Chagares and Candy Baker also volunteered
to be on the Committee. After a discussion it was determined that the balance
of funds in the treasury would support 2023 tournaments.
