INSTRUCTIONS

Observe 3 problems around you and make an improvement plan for each problem based on
topics/methods that you have learned in the half semester such as: operation strategy, design of
product & service, project management, manufacturing process, strategic capacity management,
and service process & waiting line.

Report format:
• Write with format Microsoft Word (*.docx) max 5 pages per problem (Including title,
figures, and/or tables).
• Please use a problem-solving method that you are well familiar with, for example, the A3
problem solving-method, or another method. But at least, your report includes 5 elements
for each problem:
1. Define the problem by pointing the gap,
2. Analyze the situation and root cause(s) of the problem,
3. Develop alternative solutions,
4. Select a solution (including a comparison to the status quo and the benefit-cost
analysis),
5. Make an action plan.

The evaluation of the exam report for each problem will be based on:
a. The clear problem statement and problem owner.
b. The comprehensiveness of the root cause.
c. The accuracy of the solution is based on the root causes.
d. Solution selection.
e. Implementation plan.
