ISSUES

1. Lack of planning in urbanisation

2. Frequent occurrence of Urban Floods
3. Indiscriminate usage of groundwater resulting in its depletion
4. Reduction in green-cover
5. Insufficient financing for maintenance of natural water bodies
6. Inability in treatment & reuse of wastewater
7. Pollution of Water Bodies
OBJECTIVES
1. Water Security: Effective prevention of urban flooding disasters by
interception & diversion of urban floods in low-lying areas
2. Water Environment:Interception & Diversion of polluting causing
sources to ensure the improvement of water quality in natural
water bodies.
3. Water Ecology:Ensure increase in the volume capture ratio of
annual rainfall through effective utilisation of Rain-Water
Harvesting structures.
4. Urban Vegetation: Increase in green cover and maintenance of
dedicated green spaces near water bodies.
5. Water Resources:Effective use of rainfall, recycled water and other
non-conventional water resources.
6. Public Participation: Making the notion of water conservation and
waterbodies maintenance an integral part of public life.
