The famous modern artist that I choose is Frida Kahlo.

She was a Mexican artist born in

1907, and started to create painting in 1925 and continued all the way to 1954. When she
was 18 she started to create her work, because she participated in an accident where she
got hit by a bus, and could not move her legs anymore, and there in the hospital she had
time to reflect on herself, and so she started drawing self portraits. During her creative period
in Mexico and later in the United States she managed to create a new style of art - post
revolutionary Mexicayotl movement.

THe self portrait that I choose to be as my reference is her with a thorn necklace and
hummingbird.

This painting was drawn in the year of 1940, and it is supposed to represent many things
about her life, such as the disability of being unable to move, and this is her way to show the
world what she is experiencing, other reference suggest that this painting goes back to
middle ages Europe, to portray the woman as a object of desire.

I think I want to follow her steps when I create a self-portrait on my own because I find her
painting intriguing, and paintings that look like they are looking straight into your soul, trying
to see what you are thinking about. I also like it because it is relatively beautiful (my opinion),
and because the background really suits the picture, and it really makes the character stand
out.
