Experiment

research question
how does the ph of an acid affect how much it can dissolve
Hypothesis
The higher the number of ph, the more things in can dissolve.

When the acid ph number is big, that means that the acid is more powerful. If the
acid is more powerful thus is can dissolve more things.
Variables
Independent variable

the acid, every acid will have a different number of ph

Depend variable

Which acid can make a hole through a piece of wood.

Control variable

the same wood

the same climate

the same time it has to dissolve the piece of wood

the same time it had to be stored.

the same amount of acid it will be released on the plank

Equipment
5 different powerful acids 9 (HCl - hydrochloric acid, HNO3 - nitric acid, H2SO4 -
sulfuric acid, HBr - hydrobromic acid, HI - hydroiodic acid)

the same wood plank - oak plant, the same height, and the same length

same cylinder they are stored in

Method
1.The first you need to do, is to set up all the materials

2. Get all the planks ready

3.with 5 people release the same amount of acid in the planks at the same time

4.measure the data which acid made it through the plant and which not

5. if you have more acid repeat the experiment as much as possible

Safety notes
The acids you are working with are very powerful. It is recommended to wear the
thiccest gloves possible, otherwise the acid bay go through your skin and bones.

Be careful when carriget the acids around, again it is recommended to wear a

science coat as the acid you are working with can dissolve you skin easily, it is
also recommended to wear goggles as the acid may release a smoke that can
damage your eyes.
