The Pre-show
Avi could hear the crowd roaring as he walked to the dressing station. All the
other kids were getting ready to go on stage, and he could see most of them trying
to de-stress and clear their minds.
“Five minutes until go time Avi, How ya feeling?” Otto, their manager, asked.
“I’m feeling good, a little anxious, but pretty good overall. ” Avi replied, “Hey,
Kai, how are those masks turning out?”
“You know…. They’re alright… JUST KIDDING, they are awesome, I have them
all rigged up so we can talk to each other and see everything extremely clearly.”
“Awesome! Ok, everyone come over here for a pre-show talk.” Avi exclaimed
with a shaky voice. Everyone huddled up in the middle of the room and stared at
each other.
Mylah was the first to break the silence, “I am so proud of y’all, you guys have
changed my life and I hope we can do this forever.”
“I agree Mylah, before this I was just a scared boy with no powers at all, and
now, I feel truly valued and loved.” Conner replied with tears in his eyes
“Ok, ok, enough of the sappy love stories, we have a job to do, and as much
as we have practiced, you guys still suck.” Alora exclaimed jokingly
“Haha, so funny,” Avi chuckled, “Put your hands in, Trampolines on 3. Three,
two, one.”
“TRAMPOLINES” They all shouted.
“OK, Show time kids, good luck out there, and try not to break the lights this
time, Conner.” Otto exclaimed
“It was a one time thing, man, I forgot my routine and jumped too high. What
ca--” Conner was interrupted by the loudspeakers introducing their team to the
stage. It was show time.

The northern lights are an amazing spectacle that attract millions of tourists to
northern areas, just in the hopes that the lights will show themselves. Although the
lights are quite the sight, most people think that they are caused by gasses inside
the atmosphere. Interestingly, though, the strange glowing lights are caused by
electrically charged particles from space. These particles are usually produced by
the sun from its solar flares, which are tiny volcanic eruptions on the sun’s surface
that explode and carry particles all the way to Earth. These solar flares are kind of
rare, and when there are no solar flares, there are always electrically charged
particles flowing from the sun (solar wind) which have a similar effect, but do not
create as ginormous northern lights as the solar flares do. So, next time you travel
north to see the northern lights, make sure to keep in mind that the lights you're
seeing are from particles that traveled 91 million miles just to please you.
