Reflection Questions

1. Recall an experience that involved intercultural communication. How

did you interaction go? Do you consider it successful or not? Explain.
We have so many differences in our perspectives and cultures in our
college level classroom right now. Everyone will have a positive
interaction. We sometimes have misunderstandings, especially in our
dialect. We learn to ask about their cultures and dialects so that we can
modify and communicate well with everyone. Everyone follows proper
manners. Many cultures have their own rules for how we communicate.
We avoid slang, talk slowly, keep our diction simple, and actively listen
to everyone's point of view or viewpoint. We are able to understand
everyone in this way, despite our cultural differences.
2. How relevant is intercultural communication competence to your life
now as a student and in the future as a teacher.
Intercultural communication is really essential in my life right now as a
student since it breaks down cultural barriers and raises understanding
of cultural norms, as well as improving self-awareness and
communication abilities. This is a fantastic chance for me as a
prospective educator to learn more about cultural differences for my
future pupils. They were able to communicate and learn new things from
their peers due to cultural differences.

Task A
A. Imagine your own classroom 5-10 years from now. In 3-5 sentences, describe how
diverse your students will be in terms of their (at least 3)
Needs (physical, emotional, social, psychological, linguistic)
Gender
Strengths, talent and capabilities
Giftedness and disabilities
Interest
Experience
Background (ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, language)

There are 38 pupils in our section in our classroom. Approximately 2-3 of them
identify as LGBTQ. Thirty-seven of the 37 are Roman Catholics, with the remaining
seven practicing another faith. The majority of us speak Bikol-Legazpi as our
mother tongue, although three pupils speak English as their first language. In
class, there are 20 ladies and 17 boys. Most people like singing and dancing to the
beat of modern music.

Task B
B. Given your class composition in part A, share a short activity for specific lesson
where the student's diversity is addressed.

Topic: Merging Cultures

Grade Level: Grade 5
Activity Title: Cultural show
Short Description of the task/process:
The most fun show I saw in elementary school. It features traditional customs
from throughout the world as well as local customs, and it discusses current topics
through music, dance, media, art, and more. It takes weeks to months to create a
theater presentation reflecting many cultures and traditions.
