First State to Launch Door Delivery of Rations Under PDS:

 Launched on Jan 21, 2021


 Andhra Pradesh : First state to launch door-delivery of rations under the Public
Distribution System(PDS).
 To deliver the ration, at a cost of Rs.539 crore, AP govt. has distributed 9260
subsidised vehicles with GPS tracking facilities, to the eligible unemployed youths.

First of its kind fellowship scheme for artists:

 Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched the First-of-its-kind “Street
Theatre and Performing Arts Fellowship” Scheme for Artists.
 It was started by Sahitya Kala Parishad under the Department of Arts, Culture &
Languages.

India’s first of its kind Migrant Worker Cell:


 Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurated India’s 1st of its kind Migrant
Worker Cell at Surat, Gujarat
 It has been created under the ‘National Urban Livelihood Mission Scheme’.
 An initiative of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) it aims to help Migrants from Odia
& other parts of the country working in different industries of Surat.

PM inaugurates Rewari-Madar Freight Corridor Section of WDFC:


 Inaugurated by Narendra Modi on Jan 7, 2021
 Flagged off the World’s 1st Double Stack Long Haul 1.5 Km Container Train hauled
by electric traction from Atela in Haryana – Kishangarh in Rajasthan.
 306-Km long New Rewari in Haryana-New Madar in Rajasthan section of Western
Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC)
 Japan International Cooperation Agency is funding WDFC.

India’s First Fire Park:

 Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik virtually inaugurated India’s first Fire Park
at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.
 ‘Agnishama Seva’ to provide through which 16 fire related services can be availed.
 The Fire Park is a first of its kind initiative to provide awareness on fire safety
measures, mainly focusing on School and College students.

 India’s 1st air taxi service from Chandigarh to the newly constructed Hisar airport

First group of states to complete 3 reforms stipulated by Ministry of Finance:


 Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh became the 1st Group of States to complete 3
out of the 4 citizen schemes stipulated by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry
of Finance.
 These two states have completed the implementation of schemes – One Nation One
Ration Card Reforms, Ease of Doing Business Reforms and Urban Local Bodies
Reforms.
 Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance will provide them an additional
Financial Assistance of Rs. 1004 Crore under the newly launched “Special
Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure” scheme.

India’s First Government Sponsored InvIT scheme:


 National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to operationalise India’s first
Government Sponsored Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) scheme
 InvIT – It is an Collective Investment Scheme through which individuals &
institutional investors can invest in Infrastructure projects and earn a small portion
of the income as return.

First Labour Movement Museum:


 India’s First Labour Movement Museum showcases the history of the World Labour
Movement is set to be launched in Kerala’s houseboat tourism hub, Alappuzha,
Kerala.

World’s First Quantum Computing Applications Lab:
 Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) has partnered with
Amazon Web Services (AWS) to set up a Quantum Computing Applications Lab in
the Country.
 The lab will be the World’s 1st Quantum Computing Applications Lab to support a
National Government’s Mission.
 India announced National Mission on Quantum Technologies & Applications (NM-
QTA) in the Union Budget 2020-21 with a budget of INR 8000 Crore for a period of
5 years to be implemented by the Department of Science & Technology (DST).

First State to give Power subsidy to farmers:


 Madhya Pradesh has become the first State to give electricity subsidy through
Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
 This achievement has made it eligible for additional borrowing equivalent to 0.15%
of its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).

First of its kind National Non-Communicable Disease Monitoring Survey (NNMS)

 Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) released
National Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Monitoring Survey (NNMS) 2017-18
 NNMS is first of its kind complete survey on NCDs using standardised tools &
methods and Framework for Telemedicine use in Management of Cancer, Diabetes,
Cardiovascular Disease & Stroke in India.

Assam’s First Heliport:


 Inaugurated by Sarbananda Sonowal (Chief Minister of Assam)
 First Heliport of Assam @ Majuli district
 This heliport is aimed to boost the tourism of Majuli, the World’s largest river
island.

First Skill University of Eastern India:

India’s First Impact-based Flood Forecasting System:


 Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has partnered with the United Kingdom Space Agency’s
(UKSA) programme
 Purpose: Joint project on ‘Impact Based Flood Forecasting using Earth Observation
(EO) based Information’ for getting India’s 1st Impact-based Flood Forecasting.
 This project comes under the National Space Innovation Programme (NSIP).

Punjab’s First Central Water Treatment Plant:


 Location: Daudhar village, Moga
 Purpose: Supply Clean Drinking Water to 85 Villages of Moga district
 This Project was developed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T)

Punjab’s First Solar-based water supply project:


 Location: Jagrawan-Muradpur and Talwara villages of Jalandhar district
 Purpose: ensure Uninterrupted potable water (drinking water) supply in rural areas
of Punjab.
 The pilot project has been set up under ‘Har Ghar Paani, Har Ghar Safai’ Mission.

First Indigenous Metro Racks:

 Location: New Metro line of Mumbai – Metro 2A and 7 at the Charkop Metro Depot,

 Manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and delivered the first
‘Made in India’ rake from the Bengaluru facility of BEML

India’s First Wetland Conservation Centre:


 Announced by Babul Supriyo
 Location : Chennai
 It is a part of the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM)
Institute, a research institute under MoEFCC.
 Launched on World Wetland Day (Feb 2, 2021)

MoAFW – First of its kind pilot study:


 Directorate General of Civil Aviation(DGCA) gave approval to Ministry of Agriculture
and Farmers Welfare(MoAFW) to use drones(Unmanned Aerial Vehicles -UAVs) to
capture images of rice and wheat fields
 Purpose: To assess crop yields at gram panchayat level under the Pradhan Mantri
Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
 This is the 1st time in India that remote sensing technology based largest pilot study
is conducted for crop yield estimation.

World Population Report 2021:

 This is the first time a United Nations report has focused on bodily autonomy
 UNFPA works directly to tackle Sustainable Development Goals on health (SDG3), education

decisions regarding their bodies, including using contraception, seeking healthcare or even

‘Ganga Utsav 2021 – The River Festival’ To Be Celebrated From 1st to 3rd Nov:

 National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) celebrates Ganga Utsav every year to mark the

 This year’s Ganga Utsav is being organised from 1st to 3rd November, 2021.

Wanchuwa Festival 2021 was celebrated:

 Tiwa tribesmen celebrated the Wanchuwa festival in Karbi Anglong district of Assam
 Tiwas practice Jhum or shifting cultivation
 With every harvest, it comes with songs, dances, a bunch of rituals and people clad in
their native attires
 With bamboo sticks in hand, the people proceed to rhythmically beat the rice powder,
and occasionally pause to move around the circle
