Getting Started
To upgrade a SONOS 500/1 000/1 50 0/OR Imaging System from any Revis ion “A through O.4” to

a SONOS 2000 /2500:

Upgrading an old system to a SONOS 2000/2500 system:

Use the instructions on this page when the upgrade consists of swapping an
older SONOS system with a SONOS 2000/2500 system. First you will need to
install the 2000/2500. Then you must determine whether or not you need to
move peripherals from the old system to the 2000/2500. After you have
completely upgraded the system, you will need to perform most of the
procedures in chapters 5, 6 and 7. Note that the 2000/2500 will have the latest
revision software installed, and depending on what is purchased with the
upgrade, the 2000/2500 will have other peripherals and/or feature options
already installed in the system at the factory.
❏ Before you start. (page 1-1)
❏ Swap old system with new SONOS 2000/2500 System.
❏ Perform installation instructions. (Remove shipping crate/shipping
blanket, connect monitor, install gel/transducer holders.) (chapter 4)
❏ Determine if you need to install peripherals in new system. If yes, move
old peripherals from old system to new system. (chapter 4)
❏ Determine if you need to install a DSR in new system. If yes, move DSR
from old system to new system. (chapter 3)
If new system has 77470A Digital Network Interface (without its own
DSR), and old system has 77450B (2X) DSR, you will need to mount DSR
into 77470A. (Revision B.2.x, chapter 2)

❏ If system has 77470A Digital Network Interface, configure 77470A.

Installing a SONOS 2000/2500 (M2407A) System

Perform the instructions on this page only if you are swapping an old SONOS
system with a new SONOS 2000/2500 system.

1 Remove shipping crate/ shipping blanket from 2000/2500 system.

Shipping Blanket: Return shipping blanket (and two corner post protec-
tors, if supplied) to: Hewlett-Packard, 3000 Minuteman Road, Andover,
Mass 01810 (Attention ISY Shipping Department, Dock C).
Shipping Crate: Refer to instructions attached to crate.

2 If the monitor is already mounted on the system, remove the

collar from around the monitor.

If the monitor is not mounted on the system, connect the monitor

to the tilt/swivel base on top of the system:
a. Align the bottom backside of the monitor to the front (the dish-
shaped portion) of the mounted tilt/swivel.
b. Slide the monitor backward so that it engages both the front and rear
side brackets on the swivel. Continue sliding the monitor all the way
back until you hear a “click” from the monitor locking bar, indicating
that the monitor has been secured in place.
c. Connect the color coded BNC connectors to the monitor rear-panel
connectors labeled B (blue), G (green), R (Red), and SYNC (black).
The other end of this cable is already connected.
d. Plug the power cord into the power receptacle on the monitor. Use
the supplied clamp to secure the power cord to the monitor. The
other end of this power cord is already connected.

3 Place the transducer/gel bottle holder into the opening on the

front handle of the system.

Also attach Caution label on holder (instructions with holder).

4 Insert the five transducer holders on top of the transducer mount-

ing plate, located on the right side of the system.

Ask customer order of preference.

The following upgrade instructions describe how to connect all

N O TE
required hardware and cables to the peripheral and the system. Since
certain upgrade kits may already have some of the required hardware
preassembled and mounted in the system, some steps of the
instructions may not apply. Instead, you will need to first remove the
preassembled hardware from the system. Then move the peripheral
from the old system, mount it into the preassembled hardware and
into the system. Use only those steps that are necessary for the kit
you are installing.

Configuration
Sys tem Setup (Configuration)

System Setup (Configuration)

If you are upgrading an old SONOS system to a SONOS 2000/2500 system,

check whether or not you are required to copy the configuration settings
from the customer’s existing SONOS 500/1000/1500/OR system to the new
SONOS 2000/2500 system. To do this, you may have to create a new preset as
described below.
If you are upgrading an existing SONOS 2000/2500 system to a new revision,
you may also be required to set the system presets according to which
options were purchased with the upgrade. Refer to table 5-1.
a. Select a preset of the same exam type as the one you want to create.
For example: With Setup key Off, select Preset. Now, select exam
type, such as Cardiac Exam and HP Adult. This ensures that most
system settings, including annotation labels and analysis measure-
ments, are appropriate for the new preset.
b. Change the preset items using table 5-1. This table lists the possible
configuration items of the existing SONOS 500/1000/1500/OR system
and the preset defaults of the SONOS 2000/2500 system. If the exist-
ing system is configured for different values than the SONOS 2000/
2500 system, Table 5-1 describes how to change the appropriate item.
You can use the blank column in table 5-1 to help you to record exist-
ing system values. As you make changes, make sure the screen is not
frozen.
c. After changing the preset items in table 5-1, again display the exam
type selected in step a. Then, select Save Preset.
d. Highlight Create New with the trackball and press Enter.
e. Type the name for the new preset.
f. Press Enter twice to save the new preset.
g. Repeat above procedure if another new preset is desired (such as for
another exam type),
h. Backup presets to key processor.
