Butler releases new Production Truck

Providing the College of Communications students with Great Experiences

INDIANAPOLIS IN – Students in Butler University’s College of Communications experience hands-on

learning and extraordinary opportunities through the new production truck. Live sports, event coverage and
more, are provided to students allowing them to partake in real-world experiences on the go. Launching on
January 12th, 2022, Butler students around campus can take advantage of this fully equipped luxury.

Initially established for those looking to get into sports broadcasting, Butler aimed to create a way of efficient
and effective communication. Butler+, the official name for the production truck, teaches students ways of using
equipment and how to manage jobs within the field. The truck allows students to showcase their work and gives
a kickstart to their career. With the upcoming sports seasons rolling around, Butler+ will be extending coverage
from just women’s basketball outside to baseball, softball and women’s lacrosse.

Students will be expected to rotate through several positions over their time with Butler+ with main jobs
including:

- Director/Technical Director
- Play-by-Play and Color Commentator
- Sideline Reporter
- Camera Operator
- Producer
- Replay Operator
- Audio Operator
- Graphics Operator
- Engineer
- Production Assistant

“It’s an awesome opportunity to get a real chance at real-world experience… it’s like how it is in the real
world,” says Butler+ Intern, Drake Howard. “I think having a way of actually working one-on-one with
professionals alongside other students is incredible and will truly give me experience that I will be able to talk
about anywhere.”

President of Butler University, James Danko, looks forward to what is to come with the College of
Communication. “Part of Butler’s goal is to provide students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, whether that
means creating new programs specific to Butler curriculum or introducing new features onto campus. We
continue to excel at creating the Butler dream for our students.”
