CCOM students will rotate through different positions in the video production process, such as a
sideline reporter, camera operator, producer and many more. The truck also has modern
equipment and technology, like studio broadcast cameras, scoreboard features and dual audio
capabilities.
Butler’s CCOM department is very excited about its students getting this crucial experience.
Margaretha Geertsema-Sligh, interim dean of Butler University’s College of Communication
said, “The Production Truck has numerous opportunities to both learn and work with the video
production truck. Students will graduate with unique experience on their resumes, including
announcing, producing, directing, and as operators.” She, along with other professors, believe
that Butler CCOM students will be well prepared for the real world and get unique experience
outside the classroom.
Professors and deans aren’t the only ones who are excited for this opportunity. Maeve Van Etten,
a junior majoring in Sports Media and Strategic Communication, said, “I am excited because the
truck not only feels professional, but it will also give me opportunities I won’t have outside the
classroom.”
