Here’s how to participate

If you’re new to AWS Cloud Quest:

1. Sign up for a free account or log into AWS Skill Builder.

2. Visit the AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner course page.

Note: If you already have an AWS Skill Builder Individual or Team subscription, you can visit the AWS Cloud
Quest course page and participate through any of the available roles.

3. Choose Enroll.
4. Choose Start Learning Now.
5. Choose Start Game. This will open AWS Cloud Quest in a new tab.
6. Choose Start Game in the new tab. This will start the tutorial, which will take approximately
one hour to complete.
7. Customize your avatar however you like.
8. Follow the tutorial to build your first solution inside the game’s live AWS environment.
9. Once you complete the first solution, a re:Invent Challenge pop-up will appear on the main
screen with an option to claim your unique code. Choose Claim.
10. Visit the AWS Cloud Quest desk in the self-paced labs room (Venetian, L2, Titian 2201B)
between November 28 and December 2.
11. Present your code to the AWS staff, who will verify your code and give you your swag!

If you’ve already played AWS Cloud Quest:

1. Log into AWS Skill Builder.

2. Select AWS Cloud Quest from your learner dashboard and start the game.
3. If you have already completed the first assignment in any AWS Cloud Quest role, a re:Invent
Challenge pop-up will appear on the main screen with an option to claim your unique code.
Choose Claim.
4. Visit the AWS Cloud Quest desk in the self-paced labs room (Venetian, L2, Titian 2201B)
between November 28 and December 2.
5. Present your code to the AWS staff, who will verify your code and give you your swag!

Specialist, or Security Specialist—and learn how to build solutions that develop skills for your chosen
specialty.

How do I access AWS Cloud Quest?

To play AWS Cloud Quest, learners sign in or create a free account for AWS Skill Builder and choose
AWS Cloud Quest from the course catalog. The Cloud Practitioner role is available for free to all
learners globally, and additional roles are available with an AWS Skill Builder subscription.

What languages is AWS Cloud Quest available in?

AWS Cloud Quest is available in English only at this time.

Can I play AWS Cloud Quest on my tablet or mobile device?

At this time, the game works only on desktop/laptop computers.

What is the AWS Cloud Quest re:Invent Challenge?

This challenge will reward learners at re:Invent 2022 who play the game, while supplies last. To earn a
prize, you must complete the first assignment in AWS Cloud Quest and claim the code from within the
main game screen.

I completed the first assignment but got an error when I tried to claim my code. What should I do?
If you receive an error while claiming your code, close and reopen the pop-up then try to claim it
again. If that does not work, restart the game and try to claim your code. If you are still unable to claim
your code, visit the AWS Cloud Quest desk at the Venetian, Level 2, Titan 2201B and an AWS staff
member will assist you.

I wrote my code down, but then I lost it. What should I do?
If you misplace your code, you can view it again by starting AWS Cloud Quest and choosing the
re:Invent Challenge icon from the main screen. The same unique code will be displayed again.

I completed the challenge, but the AWS Cloud Quest staff said my code is invalid. What should I
do?
Each learner will receive a unique code that can only be used once. If your code is invalid, the AWS
staff will take extra steps to verify that you completed the challenge.

When is the last day to redeem my code?

Please redeem your code in the self-paced labs room at the Venetian, L2, Titian 2201B by 11:00 am on
Friday December 2.

Can I get more than one swag item for my friend/family?

Unfortunately, no. We have only a limited supply reserved for learners who have completed this
challenge.
