Preparation of the Mayo Table

Instruments / Materials ( Arranged according to use )
- Episiotomy Scissors
- 2 Forceps ( Curve / Straight )
- Needle Holder
- Tissue Forceps
- plastic cord clamp
- Suture Scissor
- Suture ( Chromic 2-0 Double Armed )
- pair of sterile gloves
- 5 cc. Disposable Syringe
- Xylocaine 2% 5 ml. ( not to be placed in the Mayo Table )

Drapes ( Arranged according to use )

- Buttocks drape
- 2 Leggings
- 2 Square Sheets

Preparing for Delivery

2. Check Room Temperature to be at 25 - 28 Degrees
Celsius.
3. Eliminate Air draft ( Put off Air conditioner )
4. Assist patient to the Delivery Room Table and put her in a
lithotomy / dorsal recumbent position.
5. Ask patient if she is comfortable in her position. MAAM

6. Ask mother if she wishes to eat / drink or void. MAAM

7. Communicate with the mother – inform her of progress of
labor, give reassurance and encouragement. MAAMlapit na

8. Ensure patients’ privacy. (KAY UHON ANG BAYO)
9.Clean the perineum with antiseptic solution.
A. Prepare materials needed for prepping
•2 Canister for cherry balls, with betadine soap and paint
•Pitcher with lukewarm water
•Pick – up forcep
•Deep Tray
I WILL NOW WASH MY HANDS AND PUT ON CLEAN
GLOVES

10. Pour water over the perineum and the inner thighs.
11. From the canister, using a pick-up forcep, get 3 cherry
balls soaked in Betadine soap and place it on the upturned lid
of the canister.
12. Get first cherry ball and start with the mons pubis going up
using back and forth. 13. Turn the first cherry ball clean from
the clitoris to down to the vaginal opening.
14. Now i will get the 2nd cherry ball, clean the inner thigh of
first leg from labia majora and moving laterally
15. 3 rd cherry ball, repeat procedure #13 with the other leg.
16. Prep anus last.
17. Rinse thoroughly
18. Wash hands and put on gloves aseptically.

Draping the Client

Buttocks Drape
19. Fold upper 1/3 of drape towards you and place palm of
hand facing downwards under the folded part,
20. Instruct mother to lift her buttocks and insert drape
carefully, remove hands quickly.

Leggings
21. Open the leggings and maintain the topmost fold. 22.
Insert hands on both sides of the fold and apply to patients’
legs. 23. Perform on both legs.

Square Sheets ( Abdomen )

24. Fold both square sheets in half individually and apply to
the abdomen, one on top of the other. Make sure that not any
part of the sterile drape touches my scrubsuit.

At the time of Delivery

26. Encourage patient to push as desired. MAAM HULATON

27. Apply perineal support using a 4x4 gause to controll
delivery of the head. (fold os in half) OK MAAM CGE BUN A

28. After the head is delivered, wait for it to rotate. 29. Grasp
babys’ neck with the middle and index finger of both hands.

Deliver the babys’ shoulder:

30. Deliver the upper shoulder by pulling down babys’ head.
31. Deliver the lower shoulder by pulling up the babys’ head.
32. Pull the baby out, still with hands on the neck.
33. Slide down your left hand towards babys’ legs / feet while
other hand remains with the head.
34. Place baby on top of Mothers’ abdomen in prone position
with head sideways. Dry the baby for 30seconds
35. Call out time of delivery and sex of baby. BABY BOY..
TIME OF DELIVERY
36. Inform Mother of the outcome. ( Babys’ sex and time of
delivery ) MAAM LALAKI ANG IMO BATA ALAS…. NAG
GWA
37. Perform Essential Newborn Care ( separate procedure )
38. Exclude a second baby by palpating the abdomen in
preparation for the administration of Oxytocin.
39. Palpate the Umbilical Cord for pulsations.
40. After pulsation stops ( or between 1-3 min), clamp cord
using the plastic umbilical cord clamp and instrument clamp
and cut at the center.

Delivering the Placenta

41. Wait for strong uterine contractions then apply controlled
cord traction and countertraction on the uterus continuing until
the placenta is delivered.
42. Examine the placenta for completeness and
abnormalities. TIME: THE PLACENTA HAS NO
ABNORMALITIES, COMPLETE COTYLEDONS NOTED AND
THE PLACENTA WAS DELIVERED IN CONTROLLED
CORD TRACTION. THE MECHANISM IS SCHULTZ SINCE
IT IS SHINY AND SMOOTH
43. Dispose the placenta in a leak proof container or plastic
bag.
44. Inspect the perineum and for lacerations and assist in
repair ( nO LACERATIONS AND NO NEED FOR REPAIR
NOTED)
if necessary.( use a 4x4 gauze ) (fold in half)
45. Massage uterus until firm.n (one hand only)
46. Perform perineal care and apply adult diaper correctly,
47. Provide emotional support to the mother throughout labor
and delivery. MUSTA IMO MATYAG MAAM. MAYO KAY
NAKA GWA NA SI BABY. MAY NGALAN NA SI BABY
MAAM? OK SO GOOD JOB SA IMO DELIVERY, NO
COMPLICATIONS KAG HEALTHY GID SI BABY ZACH.
50. Evaluate patient condition and records pertinent data
accordingly. ( Date and time of Delivery / Mothers’ Name /
Sex of Baby / Medications given / Type of Delivery / Time of
Placental delivery ). November 26, 2021 at *time of delivery*
F.C. ////baby BOY///// oxytocin was given//// Normal
spontaneous vaginal delivery (time of placenta _______)

AS TO PERTINENT DATA GATHERED. The patient is now

in stable condition. No bLOODLOSS, NO LACERATIONS,
NO UTERINE ATONY NOTED and now is ready to be
transferred to the recovery room.
48. Prepares patient for transfer to Recovery Room / Ward. (

room)

49. Performs after care. (Remove one legging tas pamutang

ang mga drapes)
51. Finishes procedure within allotted time.
