FACULTY OF COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES

SCHEME OF WORK ITS 411 SEPT-DEC 2019

COURSE NAME : FUNDAMENTALS OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT

PROGRAM : CS2453A, 3B & CS2513A
LECTURER : PN WAN NOR AMALINA WAN HARIRI
COURSE LEARNNG OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. Describe information system components, process modelling concepts and terminology
2. Explain the concept of Data Flow Diagram (DFD), Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) and
Normalization to information systems development process
3. Demonstrate information system using system development life cycle activities in a team.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces the students to the systems development life cycle activities. It provides
a foundation of information systems development using traditional structured approach.
Emphasis is given on the process model and relational data model as the building blocks of
information systems. Students can therefore use the constructed models to develop a simple
information system.
