Entrepreneurial Management

02 Activity 01

1. Which type of management style (immoral, amoral, moral) would you employ? Explain.

Well, obviously, to establish a healthy environment for my small business, I would

choose and always use the "moral management" style. Because I think it's the best way to
maximize profits without having my employees and even myself facing unethical practices. I
want to develop my business in an area free from violation of the law or from an ethical
perspective. Because according to moral management, an individual who wishes to succeed
always depends on the parameters of ethical standards and the ideals of fairness, justice and due
process. This is why it is more convenient for me to use this style, because if I allow my
company to engage in unethical business practices, it can lead to vilified public relations and loss
of trust and confidence. Respect on the part of the consumer. As a result, the negative advertising
trend is there, so doing the right one will always lead to success.

2. Considering the size of the business, what type of ethical lapses (unethical employee,
moral blindness, opportunity pressures, competitive pressures, etc.) do you expect?

I am thinking of moral blindness because no one is perfect and every once in a while we
make unethical mistakes and that is the reality of life. Therefore, the ethical dilemma is
inevitable, so no one is exempt from its presence. Accept the fact that even in our own, we are
sometimes morally blinded by different situations. But to prevent that from happening, we need
to establish a workplace where ethical conduct is the norm. Through this, we can reduce the risks
and, of course, build a solid foundation by carrying the culture of integrity from top to bottom.
This is why I want to use a moral management style in the first place because it will allow me to
start with a type of leadership that values the ethical perspective at all times.

3. Based on the identified ethical lapses, which ethical test/s (utilitarian principle, golden
rule, family test, etc.) would you use as the foundation of your company? Explain how the
chosen ethical test/s would help minimize if not eliminate the possible ethical lapses.

So, in order to connect my answer to the previous question, I would choose "The Golden
Rule" as a way to minimize the ethical deviations I expected. According to the handouts, you
must treat others as you would like them to be to treat you. This means, as a small business
owner, making sure that we are a good role model for our employees so that all the
characteristics you involve are reflected in them and in return do the same. Employees must see
that their leader values the ethical perspective, so that moral blindness will be eliminated. It is
important to always uphold the principle of integrity at the forefront of organizational values to
show a good image. The Golden Rule tells us something true: Employees learn a lot about the
priorities and character of leaders, especially when they show their true colors. So, if leaders
make values their touchstone in times of dilemma, employees learn that ethics matter.

4. Propose ways to maintain the ethical standards in your organization. Give at least three
(3) concrete courses of action.

If I am to about to propose ways to maintain ethical standards in my organization, the

first thing I would do is “set the tone”. This means that I will always emphasize the importance
of ethics in many aspects of life. We can give employees a real example of an ethical situation
that will inspire them to do so. Through this, we can teach them valuable lessons that they can
apply for future crises. The second is “Conduct Ethics Training” where we can create a culture
that encourages employees to consider the ethical impact of their decisions. The leader needs to
set up open communication where we can discuss the core of our business culture. It is important
to first talk about what our company stands for before starting to provide ethics training. We
must ensure that employees are always informed and involved in the development of the
organization's code of conduct. This way we can see how fully committed they are and how
wholeheartedly they accept all the terms and conditions. Last but not the least is "setting high
standards of behavior".Because it is important to diversify the good character at all levels.
According to Studier, if you want to set a high standard of behaviour, don't assume that people
think you are violating their rights. Saying "you have to come with your hands clean" because we
have to make them feel that you are also practicing this good behaviour. It is therefore our
responsibility to specify which behaviours are acceptable and which are not incumbent on us to

empower employees. Each organization must be unified by agreed standards as this implies that
each is aware of its responsibilities.
