Module 2: Human Flourishing and Condition

Create a reflection paper on your personal philosophy about human flourishing and human
condition reflecting yourself as part of the society.

We can tell that the flourishing of humans is visible and that is being carried through
across where the concept of globalization is also executed. Aside from the sciences and
technologies from each developed country being administered, the science and technology
of these shall also thrive in their own roots and not be a stranglehold in globalization. The
effort to reach self-actualization and fulfillment within the context of a bigger community and
society, each individual has the right to achieve with their own sweat and blood is well
known as human flourishing.

Personally, I think that human flourishing has a very optimistic concept attached to it.
On the one hand, it involves the rational utilization of individual human abilities such as
skills, talent, interests, principles and beliefs in the search of their chosen values, freely and
rationally chosen values and goals. On the other hand, if people will not make an effort to
live within the optimal range of human functioning, then they will not be able to grow and
progress based on their goals and vision. One good illustration of this topic is technology.
The era of machines and digital media embodies a specific way of revealing how modern
society functions in the world, explicitly demonstrating how it takes power over reality.
Technology embodies a specific way of revealing the world, unveiling that us humans can
have the power over reality. If we list down its positive contributions, It eases our daily work,
mends diseases, promises abundant food and drinkable water, improves communication
and transport all over the globe, and increases our knowledge of the vast natural Earth and
the universe. In the context of human flourishing, if we are not able to control our thirst for
more accomplishments then it is possible that we might be able to abuse the resources that
we have and that will also mean that we have crossed our boundaries as well as our
morality.

Technological, scientific, economic, cultural advancement has shaped our lives and
improved our standards of living over the past centuries, and this is what we mean by
progress. Societies are composed of diverse types of individuals with distinct preferences,
people reliably form organizations, groups or even nations to be able to truly improve the
status quo which is the development
