Science and Earth: A Non-fiction

Thousands of years ago, our ancestors have already gained knowledge and information
about how things work and why. They were the predominant forefathers of roads, houses,
microscope bridges, and even medicine. As we arrive in the 21st century, teaching science and
technology is still essential as ever. Its role has been long known to human beings and that is to
make our lives work better. However, it also improves our way of life and its benefits are being
invested for the people. Understanding this field helps with the analysis of illnesses and the
cure. Showing young learners with engaging learning materials and experiments gives them an
overview of what it is like to work in the field of science and technology in response to the
demands of society and the environment.

In order to address societal concerns, science and technology allowed us to explore the
world of biology, physics, chemistry and engineering. For instance, to be able to travel from one
place to another and trade products, people have to acquire a mode of transportation.
Subsequently, we have to build roads, bridges and create vehicles, and those will require us to
think and innovate and design what is compatible for it. Today, students in the Philippines are
tasked to investigate and conduct research, we find problems and formulate hypotheses. Also,
we stop being ignorant once we continuously use our minds. As early as pre-school, students
are tasked to gain basic knowledge about the function of things and they also observe the
different fields of science in a subtle way. How does it shape the students in general? It is like
planting a tree. Teaching literacy in technology assists the students to understand the
mechanics and function of a machine of work. Being literate erases ignorance and being fully
aware gives them the power to think logically. Also, solving problems would not just be an
impulsive one for there are scientific methods to follow. It does not just tackle the art of words
and calculations and functions, it is also about pulling the lever in order to ease the economic
crises. It could also be a way to make progressions and further advancements that the country
needs with the help of high quality education and skilled students. On the other hand, society
and the environment influences the innovations and inventions being made. For example, we
build electric cars in order to reduce the carbon emissions as well as find other sources of
energy aside from oil and gas. Also, because of the pollution plastic is causing and its inability to
decay, scientists are trying to make biodegradable plastics. This means that they are
co-dependent to each other.

With the fast pace of change and globalization, our lives are different than it was years
ago. This kind of relationship between science and technology and society and environment
should be balanced because if not, it will be the root of future problems. In conclusion, they
have affected each other in different ways, both positively and negatively. However, we should
be aware that we should not let science and technology manipulate us and that it should always
be ethically good for society and the environment. Henceforth, we must continue our scientific
journey for a better future.
