 The Problem and its background

Introduction

Education plays an essential role in society, creating knowledge,

transferring it to students and fostering innovation. (Pathak, n.d.). The end of
the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries saw a transition from
industrial to innovative type of economy based on the priority of new
knowledge, production of the new type of information. It has caused the
necessity of modernization in the education sphere (Karpova et al., 2016).
The progress in information and communication technologies and the birth of
the internet has changed the end user computing experience and
environment. This advancement has changed the way of delivering
information and services. Modernization of education programs is carried out
through the digital technologies integration into the education system (Tatnall,
2005).

In the information and communication society that we live in, it has

been internalised that the Internet provides the answer to almost all of our
questions (Castells, 2006). Schools therefore face the challenge of satisfying
the curiosity of online visitors through their institutional website (Preez et al.,
2007). International studies have shown that school websites are gaining
more and more interest, although further research into the subject is required
(Hartshorne et al., 2008). School websites are being visited ever-more
frequently, and in the future this trend will increase due to the greater levels of
Internet connectivity of stakeholders in education processes and society as a
whole (Hartshorne et al., 2006,).

A school portal can be defined as a secure web page created by an

academic institution with the purpose of assisting individuals to gain access to
various academic details. The Internet has become one of the largest
platforms of communication. It is the most effective technology available
today. Building a website for school can prove to be extremely beneficial if it is
done in the right way. It may be time consuming and include a lot of effort to

be put in for developing a website for the school, but it is very advantageous
for the school community. The school website gives the school’s information
and also a clear idea about what they are good at. School websites will

Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop an interactive and

responsive school portal for San Jose del Monte National High School
learners. The objective of the research is to create a utilizable website with a
simplistic design that offers user-friendly touch and interactive areas, as well
as a mobile platform website that is easily engaging and accessible across
devices without difficulties. The researchers also aim to give learners access
to an integrated timetable so they can stay up to date with what's happening
at school and a trouble-free enrollment by using an online enrollment system

This study aims to develop a responsive and interactive school portal

for students of San Jose del Monte National High School. The objective of the
study is to develop a functional website that provides user-friendly touch and

selection, logical navigation, and responsive buttons that will be
uncomplicated for users. Second is to provide an integratable timetable for
students which comprise of systematised calendar, specific school events,
holidays and events, and feasible design that will surely fulfill the curiosity of
the students and for them to remain in touch on what's happening at school.
Third is to have a mobile platform website that has appropriate website size
for all kinds of mobile devices, load at fast speed pace, and use large font size
and buttons that will help them to access the information across devices
without inconvenience. Lastly, to have trouble-free enrollment with the use of
technology that is simple to navigate and to enroll effortlessly because of
compilation of the google forms or application forms for every grade level.

Significance of the Study

This study is important to propose the School Website in managing the

upcoming events and other dockets at San Jose Del Monte National High
School.

This study focuses on providing an innovative School Portal by

developing a helpful website with an easy-to-use interface and interactive
sections, a student-accessible integrated timetable so they can remain in
touch on what's happening at school, a mobile platform website for seamless
engagement and accessibility across devices, and a trouble-free enrollment
by implementing online enrollment system to minimize the amount of time
students spend utilizing school papers. This development aims to delve into
the needs where user interfaces like designs, navigations, simplified options,
organised school calendar and security are focused.
