Hello friends, in last

edition, Harshit explained

about India’s Space
mission and launching of
75 Satellites. 75
Satellites ?
How is it
possible?
How are
Satellites
Yes, and launched?
all at the
same Why don’t
time. we go to
Harshit and
ask him
about this?
Hello Harshit! We
all want to know
how are Satellites
launched. Will you
explain us? Hello ,
Happy to
see you all.

Yes , Why
not ? Lets
know
about
launching
of
satellites.
To carry an artificial satellite to a suitable height above the surface of
earth for placing it in an orbit around the earth a device known as rocket
is needed or it is launched on the space shuttle . In order for a satellite to
be launched successfully ,the launch rocket must be placed in a vertical
position.

Before being launched into the space ,rocket will be held down by the
clamps on the launching pad. Manned or unmanned satellite is placed at
the top of the rocket. To places satellite in a particular orbit, a satellite
must be raised to the desired height and given the correct speed and
direction by the launching rocket.
When the fuel in the
rocket burns it produces
upward thrust ,there will
be a point where upward
thrust will be greater
than the weight of the
satellite and at that point
the clamp is removed by
remote control and the
rocket moves upward.
Method by which rocket
is lifted off the ground
and propelled into the air
is known as rocket
propulsion.
Rocket propulsion is based on the principle
of conservation of momentum. Assuming
that in an outer space no net external force
is acting on it. In rocket propulsion, gases
produced by the combustion of fuel and
combustion chamber of the rocket are
ejected out from the rear of rocket .

The force with

which the gases are
ejected in the
downward direction
provides a reaction
force on the rocket
in the upward
direction.
Liquid hydrogen is the signature fuel of
the American space programme and is
used by the other countries in launching
satellite but ISRO now uses eco friendly
fuel unsymmetrical dimethyl hydrazine
as propellant and nitrogen tetra oxide as
oxidizer in its liquid fuel engines .

The motion of the rocket is considered in the outer space where the gravitational
force and air resistance are zero. The linear momentum of the ejected gases, in
the downward direction is equal and opposite to the linear momentum of the
rocket in the upward direction. If the rate of ejection of gases is constant during
firing then the rate of change of momentum will also be constant. However, the
mass of the rocket keeps on decreasing due to burning of fuel. So the
acceleration and velocity of the rocket goes on increasing.
