Dear Mr. George Wallie:

Subject: Numerous Potholes in Farmville

In the past 2 years that I have been a college student in the town of Farmville, the number of
potholes surrounding the campus has increased by 78 % in number by 22 centimeters wide in
length. As a result, tire punctures or holes in tires, have also increased substantially.

The issue started in 2020, when the introduction of the COVID-19 pandemic forced construction
workers to leave their jobs. Due to the spread of the virus this caused many workers to be laid off
during the job. These layoffs may have increased the county budget due to the funds not going to
the filling but have been used in other ways. The increasing number of potholes has impacted
many citizens economically due to the constant replacement of tires due to the harshness of the
potholes.

Currently, the county is at a record high number of potholes throughout the town. The town is in
desperate need of workers to contribute their time solely to repairing the potholes around
Farmville without having to focus on other construction projects.

We can hire 100 pothole-filling workers for 12 dollars an hour, for 2 hours, and only spend 2,400
dollars. Filling a pothole only takes 1 hour a day so each worker would fill 2 holes total, and we
would be able to fill 200 potholes, which would substantially decrease the number of potholes,
therefore the number of tire replacements for the citizens. With enough donations, we can fill all
of the potholes in Farmville by the end of the year by hiring more workers.
We acknowledge that this is a lot to ask of you and your business associates, but the pros
outweigh the cons. An example of a pro would be less tire breaks, and safer walkways for
Longwood students and the community as a whole. The name of each of the donators and the
cooperation will be shown on the signs we plan to put up after the pothole is filled, and each
worker will have the donator's name on the back of their uniform. Finally, we are a nonprofit
organization, so donors will receive a tax-deduction receipt 2 months prior to the tax filing date.

Please respond before December 1, 2022, so we can line up interviews for workers interested in
improving the wonderful and historic city of Farmville, Va. You can also donate through our
website cfpdc.org.

On behalf of the County of Farmville Pothole District Committee, we thank you for your
support.

Yours Sincerely,

Anna Hall
