VI.JOB PURPOSE: Briefly describe the overall purpose or function of the job
Responsible to plan, implement, coordinate, supervise and lead the ATCP activities of the project.

VII. Activity

1. Coordinate the overall ATCP activities with other partners (government and NGOs) in the target project kebeles

2. Ensure effective and efficient operations of the project in target kebeles.

3. Coordinate and follow up with key stake-holders the day to day project implementation and provide overall
support and guidance to Health extension workers and VHC/E to ensure proper implementation of project
activities at district and kebele levels.

4. Monitor the timely implementation routine project activities and mobile TT outreach service delivery.

Support screening of TT patients in collaboration with key stakeholders

Record demographical and treatment information of the TT patient

Liaise with CARTER center, ORDA HO, Hospitals, and health centres for MDA distribution, and TT surgery

5. In collaboration project officer & Woreda stake holders establish sound project monitoring and evaluation
mechanism; establish project data base, regularly reviews and analyze data to identify strengths and limitation,
and take timely corrective action required.

6. Properly document and disseminate project progress and achievements. Identify lessons learned, potential best
practices and success stories related to the ATCP activities

7. Ensures that all project activities are implemented in accordance with project agreement, government and
donor requirement as well as ORDA organizational principles, value and procedure.

8. Promotes partnerships and networking among Woreda stakeholders.

9. Prepares and submit regular (Fortnightly, Monthly,) program and budget report based on CBM and ORDA
standard report template to project officer.

10. Facilitate logistics/supply issues related to ATCP activities in the target implementation area as needed.
11. Facilitates training on the basics of Community Eye Health focusing on Comprehensive SAFE strategy
implementation to health professionals( nurses, Ho),Health Extension Workers (HEWs),VHE, school anti -
trachoma club members in collaboration with hospitals and all levels of health service provision structures in
close collaboration with Carter Centre;

12. Facilitates MDA (mass drug administration) in collaboration with the Carter centre &Woreda health offices.

5) 13. Facilitate to provide regular TT surgical services through the outreach programs in collaboration with
carter centre, hospitals and health offices for those patients who need the service.

6) 14. Monitoring and follow-up of the outcomes of the surgical interventions with HEWs and VHE/C
15. Provides substantial support to Health Extension Program, health institutions, WATSAN committee, VHE
(village hygiene educators) water office & primary schools to work in a coordinated manner to ensure Trachoma
Prevention and Control program SAFE strategy is effectively and efficiently implemented in the target area.
16. Ensures the Health Extension workers are able to detect persons with trachoma and other eye problems and
refer to the nearest health institutions and make follow-up;

17. Works closely with the stakeholders in promoting Trachoma prevention and control and hygiene and
sanitation activities

18. Create awareness about personal hygiene and environmental sanitation to prevent trachoma in particular for
school children and school community in the target area.
 Regularly visit schools and selected households for monitoring of the hygiene and environmental
sanitation
 Persuade school management to construct school latrine
 Support to establish hand and face washing and soap or ash to improve cleaning

19. Establish and support the school anti-trachoma, health and sanitation clubs
 Support to establish trachoma clubs, health clubs,anti-trachoma teams, make posters,inspect
cleanliness of other students
 Encourage tree planting in school

20. Participate during water point and model VIPL site selection before construction.
21. Responsible for water supply scheme and sanitation facilities construction and
22. facilitating training of WATSAN committees, VHC/E and water points care takers in handling and
management of water points and trachoma prevention and hygiene and sanitation

23. Advices the community and the WATSAN committees to optimize the water supply for their general well-
being
Especially for personal hygiene.
24. Facilitate bacteriological water quality test after construction of the water schemes
25..Makes sure that the community owns the program and sustains it
26. Prepare socio-economic data (beneficiaries, social & economic status, hygiene and sanitation information) for
each project component in the respective Kebeles before implementation, in order to facilitate impact assessment.

27. Execute other additional responsibilities as per immediate supervisor’s request

JOBHOLDER REQUIREMENTS:
Identify the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required.
Education & Experience:
 Bachelor Degree in public health officer, environmental health officer, Sociology and related
fields with 4 years relevant experience.
 Diploma in Environmental health science (sanitary science), Building construction and related
fields with 6 years relevant experience.

 Experience in mobilize community & construction of water supply schemes and sanitation
facilities is highly preferable.
 Experience in hygiene and sanitation promotion is highly preferably

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Competencies required:

 Strong team organization and community development facilitation, and commitment to bring
about positive changes;
 Proven language proficiency in written and spoken English;
 Excellent computer skills (MS package & outlook)
