Section 1 Machine Base Price - "Item 1 " lists the base machine without options and/or
accessories. If the model includes additional components, these are listed
beneath the base machine. Packing/crating is listed separately and is based
on current material costs that may change without notification.

Section 2 Recommended Options - Lists components for the quoted machine based on
process details shared with PR Hoffman. These are strongly recommended to
enhance machine performance or add process material protection.

Section 3 Accessories - This section is comprised of items that can be considered

options if an existing (and alike) machine(s) is currently being used by the buyer.
For instance if you purchase a duplicate machine for a duplicate process at the
same job site, then one set of these accessory items may be used for both
machines. Please note, PR Hoffman only recommends this if the duplicate
machines are within close proximity of one another.

Section 4 Special/Procured Parts - The last section of the quotation provides information
and pricing for items such as on-site installation supervision, start-ups, operator
training, or any specialty components required by the buyer that PR Hoffman

Machine Description
The PR Hoffman Servo PR-1 Series Planetary Lapping/Polishing machine can process a wide variety of part
materials to very exacting tolerances of thickness, flatness, parallelism, and surface finish. The material to be
processed is positioned between the carriers (work holders) which are driven with a planetary motion between the
stationary top and bottom plates.

The PR-1 is available in four plate size configurations and is designed as:
PR-1-85T - uses a 18.9" (480mm) Ø plate and has 5 carriers with a max part circle of 6.6" (167.6mm) Ø.
 PR-1-66T - uses a 14.3" (363mm) Ø plate and has 5 carriers with a max part circle of 5.0" (127mm) Ø.
PR-1-50T - uses a 14.3" (363mm) Ø plate and has 8 carriers with a max part circle of 3.6" (91.4mm) Ø.
PR-1-32T - uses a 14.4" (366mm) Ø plate and has 13 carriers with a max part circle of 2.1" (53.3mm) Ø.

The standard PR-1 comes complete with a cast 3/8" top plate (optional square patterned serrated top and bottom
plates). planetary drive gears, work table, bottom plate adjustment system, variable speed Servo drive and timer.
The PR1 can be adapted to meet your processing requirements by addition of a variety of optical accessories.

Machine Drive - The ring gear and center gear on the 32T, 50T, and 66T, are driven by a 1 HP (0.75KW) servo motor.
The 85T is driven by a 1-1/2 HP (1.125KW) servo motor. The motor drive provides a smooth speed ramp for soft
starting of fragile parts as well as a programmed soft stop at the end of the cycle. The machine can be configured with
a dual motor configruation in which the center gear and ring gear are driven by separate Servo motors which are
integrated into the machine controls to enable self-flattening of the lapping/pollishing surfaces.

Standard Features
Carriers - Carriers are available in a variety of materials (listed below and other options upon request).

Construction - The rugged machine construction will withstand harsh environments and provide a stable platform
for producing flat and parallel parts. The plate and support plate designs include extra thickness to help prevent
distortion from heat and force, resulting in a flatter lapping or polishing surface for making high-quality parts. The
machine design employs stainless steel hardware and polymer coatings, which protects parts exposed to process
fluids against corrosion and makes cleaning easier.

Optional Features and Accessories

Dual Motor Drive - As described above, drives center gear and ring gear separately to provide greater control
of removal rates as well as provide self-flattening capability.

Abrasive Distribution System - Includes a 5ga (18L) container, a high-quality variable speed mixer, a peristaltic
pump (DC motor), and drip pan. The slurry is mixed then pumped evenly to the four feed slots in the top plate. A
high-quality spray gun is included in the Abrasive Distribution System to conveniently wash the machine down.

Digital Sizing Control - The digital sizing device approximates the thickness of the parts in the lap by direct
measurement of the distance between the plates. The digital gauge probe is mounted on the top lap plate, and makes
contact with the anvil which is mounted on the machine shaft center and integrated with controls in the panel.

Serrated Option for Cast Iron Lapping Plates - The serrated option can help to reduce hydroplaning on processes
with large parts. Serrations are added to the cast iron plates that are standard with the machine.

Top Plate Lifter - Reduces operator fatigue of manually handling the top plate; allows the use of heavier plates
for better removal rates; and provides a layer of additional safety with two-handed controls to keep operator clear
of lowering plate while in operation. The Top Plate Lifter is included in 85-T models due to heaver top plate.

Lapping Plate Flatness Gauge -The lap plate flatness measuring gauge comes complete with a digital indicator
and protective case. Regular checking of cast iron lapping plate flatness with this gauge will allow determination of
when reconditioning of the plates is needed before part flatness and parallelism tolerances deteriorate.
This option is recommended with the first lapping machine purchase. A granite reference flat is also available.

Conditioning Gears -A set of bronze rigid dressing sprockets is used to remove irregularities on the surface of the
lapping plates such as scratches or rust deposits, and to flatten the plates as necessary. These come in sets of 5.

Polishing Templates - These high-quality semiconductor / LED / Optical sapphire grade fixtures are designed to fit

stainless steel plates are recommended for processes such as polishing or fixed abrasive lapping when chemicals
are used that are not compatible with cast iron.

stainless Steel Gears Upgrade - stainless materials of construction are also recommended for the gears in a
polishing or abrasive lapping process when chemicals are used that are not compatible wih the standard (provided)
cast gears. Like the above plate upgrade, this too is an option for an additional upcharge.

Aluminum Top Polishing Plate - This option provides a light design that reduces the down force on fragile parts
for precision polishing.

Top Plate Lifter - Reduces operator fatigue of manually handling the top plate; allows the use of heavier plates
for better removal rates; and provides a layer of additional safety with two-handed controls to keep operator clear

Brush Carriers for Polishing Pads -Brush carriers with scrubbing bristles are used with flush water to clean and
restore glazed polishing pads. These come in sets of 5.

Diamond Conditioning Carriers for Polishing Pads - Each carrier holds a precision, diamond-electroplated stainless
steel wheel used to break-in and planarize new polishing pads and recondition glazed polishing pades. These come
in a set of 4 or 5.

The following terms and conditions of sale shall apply to the sale of Products and Services between
P.R. Hoffman Machine Products Corporation, “Seller,” and “Buyer” whose name and address are set
forth on the Order Acknowledgement. Products and Services shall refer to products and/or services
on the Order Acknowledgement.

1) Proposal. This quotation is valid for 30 days and is subject to PR Hoffman’s standard
Terms and Conditions of Sale available at www.prhoffman.com. Terms and conditions
contained in any Purchase Order or other purchase documents that are different from or
in addition to PR Hoffman’s standard Terms and Conditions of Sale, shall not be binding
and are hereby objected to.
2) Price. The price for the Products and Services shall be the price set forth on the Order
Acknowledgement. If no price is shown, the price for the Products being sold hereunder
shall be Seller’s regular list price for the Products in effect at the time of shipment.
3) Terms of Payment. 50% down / 40% prior to shipment / 10% upon shipment - net 30 days
unless otherwise stipulated directly on the quote or Order Acknowledgment
4) Shipment. Delivery terms are f.o.b. (for U.S. destinations) or EX-WORKS (for non-U.S.
destinations), seller’s point of supply. All delivery dates are approximate only and not a
guarantee or any particular date. SELLER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES
OR PENALTIES WHATSOEVER, WHETHER DIRECT, INDIRECT SPECIAL,

7) Warranty. Subject to the terms of Paragraph 6 hereof, all parts or tooling sold as Products
hereunder and/or Services performed hereunder are warranted by Seller only to meet
Buyer's technical specifications as agreed to in writing by Seller. All processing machines
sold as Products hereunder are warranted by Seller to be free from defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of one year after the date of shipment by Seller except for the
components of such machines specified on the Order Acknowledgements. Seller's warranty
of processing machines covers parts only, does not cover any machine which has been
abused, misused, or negligently operated or maintained. If Buyer notifies Seller in writing
within ten days after discovering of defect during the warranty period only and if such defect
appears in Seller’s sole judgment to be a defect In specifications of Services, or to be a
defect in material and workmanship of machine products atrributable to Seller, Seller will
make such repair or replacement to correct such defect as Seller in its sole judement shall
deem appropriate. THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES ARE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER
WARRANTIES EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES FOR
MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE IN RESPECT OF
THE PRODUCT AND/OR SERVICES AND THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED
OR IMPLIED WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE WARRANTIES CONTAINED HEREIN. THE
FOREGOING REMEDY SHALL BE BUYER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AGAINST
SELLER.
8) Limitation of Liability. Seller is not responsible for quantity of yield unless provided
 for on the Order Acknowledgement. Seller shall not be liable to Buyer for any defect indirect,
consequential, or incidental damages whatsoever.
9) Buyer’s Assurance. Whenever Seller shall demand reasonable assurance of
the Buyer’s ability to pay for any or all of the Products and/or Services, Buyer shall promptly
furnish Seller with such reasonable assurance. Unless such assurance is promptly given
and adequate arrangements of payment are promptly made, Seller may suspend or cancel,
at its sole option, production, delivery or shipment of Products and/or performance of

10) Acceptance of the Products. Buyer shall inspect each item of Products within ten days
after delivery and shall notify Seller in writing of any non-conformity to the Products specified
in the Order Acknowledgement with ten days after inspection. Buyer shall be deemed to
have accepted each and every item of Products for which it does not give written notice of
non-conformity within the time specified in this paragraph 8.
11) Future Orders. Seller’s acceptance (if such as taken place) of the order set forth on the
Order Acknowledgment does not constitute an agreement to accept future orders from
Buyer, and all such future orders are subject to acceptance by Seller at Carlisle,
Pennsylvania.
12) Cancellation. In the event that the Buyer cancels all or any part of the order set forth
on the Order Acknowledgement or refuses to accept any conforming items of Products,
Seller shall be entitled to all the remedies provide by the Uniform Commercial Code as
adopted in Pennsylvania and shall, in addition, be entitled to all consequential, special, or
incidental damages resulting from such cancellation or refusal of acceptance.
13) Governing Law. This is a contract for the sale of goods between merchants and shall be
governed and construed in acceptance with the laws of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania applicable to contracts made and to be performed wholly within that State.
14) Waiver and Modification. Seller’s failure to insist on the performance of any item or
condition hereof shall not constitute a waiver of any of the Seller’s rights hereunder or a
waiver of any default by Buyer. No term or condition hereof can be waived or modified
except by written consent.
15) Remedies. The remedies herein reserved to Seller shall be cumulative and shall be in
addition to any other remedies provided by law.
16) Assignment. (a) Buyer shall not assign any of its rights hereunder, nor delegate any of
its duties or obligations hereunder without Seller’s prior or written consent. (b) Seller may
assign all its rights or delegate any of its duties or obligations hereunder at any time
without notice of any kind to Buyer.
17) Entire Agreement. This acknowledgement constitutes the entire agreement between
Seller and Buyer and supersedes all other communications, representations, or agreements,
oral written, between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof.
