The graph shows the top 10 leading causes of mortality in Aloran, Misamis Occidental for the year 2017 to 2021. Non-communicable diseases
like heart diseases, kidney diseases and lung diseases remain to be the leading causes of mortality in the past 5 years. In 2017, Pneumonia was
the leading cause of death, representing 7.8% of all recorded deaths. Percentage of cases continue to rise until 2019. During the Covid
Pandemic, there was a drop in reported cases of Pneumonia, and a rise in reported deaths due to complications of heart and kidney diseases
like Uremic Encephalopathies, Stroke, Congestive Heart Diseases and Myocardial Infarctions. Deaths due to undetermined causes are also
observed to be on the rise following the Covid Pandemic. Respiratory diseases like Pneumonia was less likely to be reported following the Covid
Pandemic due to fear of being quarantined or having deceased family members cremated. This could have contributed to the decrease in
reported deaths due to Pneumonia, and a rise in other causes of deaths. In 2020, there were 4 recorded deaths of Asphyxia due to suicide. This
shows that vulnerabilities of the population to mental health diseases has become apparent, especially during the Covid Pandemic.
Overall, pneumonia was the top cause of mortality that reaches approximately to 17.14% in 2018 but significantly decreases in the year 2019 to
2021. While uremic encephalopathy and acute myocardial infarction has reached approximately 16.04% in the year 2021 and designate to be
the second leading cause of mortality. Acute respiratory failure, septic shock, pulmonary congestion and congestive heart disease has an
equivalent percentage ranging from 0.88% to 7.14% with inconsistent rise and fall for 5 consecutive years. Arrhythmia, bronchial asthma and
hypertension has consistently remain to be the least leading cause of mortality with percentage ranging from 0.88% to 2.86% for 5 consecutive
years.
Human existence are impermanence, human needed to take good care of the body for wellness and longer life expectancy. Diseases cause from
respiratory, cardiovascular and kidney related diseases are the common leading cause of mortality to human if not controlled and well taken care
of. With proper information dissemination, health teaching and enhance medical health services given to the people in the community there is a
significant decrease of mortality to human in the next 5 years.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) became a global pandemic that led to dramatic loss of human life and affect the lives of many individuals.
Covid 19 is associated with major direct and indirect respiratory, cardiovascular and kidney related consequences but due to the pandemic there
is a dramatic decline in searching for medical attention and people opt to stay at home with their home remedies without knowing that certain
diseases is worsen due to lack of appropriate medical services.
