personal suggestions - steps to assimilate BABOK guide

I) for those who are new to BA role

1. start from Pg 441 of BABOK

read the terms as per business analysis aspects

Understand its meaning in context of BABOK

+
try to understand context of your own work area

It may feel like reading english words, and meanings;

It may need 2,3 times with the right FOCUS.

2. Start undertanding the context and meaning of "techniques" being used by BAs
Pg 217
Refer to excel sheets shared.

3. Once you read and understand techniques, refer to perspectives in which they
will be used -
Five perspectives Pg 367

Refer to your own work tasks to understand which perspective you are more familiar
with

4. Then you may proceed to understand the knowledge areas sequentially with special
emphasis on RADD

5. Refer to shared material to set some path in your memories how you want to
recall the information you are reading.

6. All this information can be read non-sequentially as per your understanding, or

in the sequence given above

7. Sample tests will help you get familiar with wording of questions, and
conditions based on which you need to recall the BABOK principles and then choose
the best answers.

II) For those who are experienced in work area

a) Start with building blocks

the techniques that you may be using already in daily work
understand those aspects in detail from BABok perspective

b) try to now understand the Perspectives.

In your work place you may be aligned to one of these already from your org
perspective.
It may need some analysis to find out which view you are coming from.

c) understand the knowledge areas how they map to the flow of information.
It may be a back and forth exercise and will need suitable note taking also to
recollect information.
