CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

I. Background of the Study

Poverty is a state or condition in which a person or community lacks

the financial resources and essentials for a minimum standard of living. This

suggests that employment-based income is inadequate to meet basic human

needs. Poverty is the biggest issue that every country is facing right now. This

is the reason why a lot of people can't live peacefully. Poverty has many faces,

changing from place to place and across time, and has been described in many

ways. Most often, poverty is a situation people want to escape.

Poverty spreads in Carmona because of a lack of knowledge about

family planning. And because of that, the number of those who are positive for

COVID-19 increases where they work hard. Many within the town of Carmona

lost their jobs, and there was not enough food daily for every Carmonian due to

low wages. The reason for the spread of poverty is also that people’s lack of

education. Every case of poverty in the Carmona area and throughout the

world is caused by various issues such as COVID-19, which affect Carmonians

and people who lack money, work, or food. When there was or started the
pandemic was here many people got sick, died not only from starvation and

disease they also got. Can we say that the economy of the town of Carmona is

developing because of the solutions to poverty that will lift the lives of every

citizen in a world where nothing will be left and every individual will suffer to

solve poverty during the pandemic?

In this research paper, it is important for this lesson to be aware of

each other's difficulties. People should have an idea on what is happening in

the town of Carmona. In each of our experiences, poverty is our cooperation so

that all people will not suffer or work together as part of this town. People

deserve to know the situation that is happening to the poor. Poverty can do us

a lot of bad things, and also many people can die, just like starvation. If there

are many poor people, they need to be helped by others so that they do not go

to extremes in doing nothing to their fellow poor people and they will die even

more. Many people may not be able to eat every day, and that would cause us

to die. As for the youth, they may not be able to finish school, and they may

not be able to achieve their dreams due to poverty. Through this paper, we will

lay out the people who can be affected by it. Unemployed, low-wage, and

COVID-19 affected. Only a few will be affected by this problem. They are the

people who will be affected by the difficulties and also the people who will no

longer be supported by the government.

II. Research Questions

This study aims to understand the challenges faced by poor families in

Carmona, Cavite in the year 2021-2022, since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Specifically, this study seeks to find answer in the following questions:

1. What difficulties do the poverty families have experienced amidst

the pandemic?

2. How have the poverty families experienced living amidst the

pandemic?

3. How did the difficulties affected their way of living amidst the

pandemic?

III. Scope and Delimitation

This study focuses on the Stories of the Poverty Families in Carmona,

Cavite in the Midst of Pandemic in the year 2021-2022. The data collection will

be conducted on five (5) randomly families who lives in the neighbourhood of

Carmona, Cavite.

This study will not cover other problems aside from the difficulties that

the poverty families may have been experienced amidst the pandemic. The

same questionnaires will be given to each respondent. The questionnaires,

which will be produced by the researchers, will be the primary source of data.
IV. Significance of the Study

This study aims to investigate the experiences of families that

experiences poverty in Carmona, Cavite. Specially, their difficulties during the

pandemic. The findings of this study will benefit the families that are

experiencing poverty while the pandemic is still relevant and offer possible

alternatives to their difficulties.

Specifically this study will benefit the following:

The Families

Poor families are the immediate beneficiaries of our study, and

learning more about their problems can help them feel less stressed.

Any solution that can benefit them in solving their problems can

help them gain a better knowledge and improve their overall well-

being.

The Local Government

The local government will benefit from the study since it will

indicate where poor families are having challenges, allowing them to

develop new plans to address those issues and provide better

solutions. They can also use our study as a guide to develop

programs that will help to alleviate poverty in Carmona.

The Students

This study aims to assess a student's potential contribution. The

purpose of this study is to assess a student's potential contribution.

Also, to enable the student to understand what poverty is and how it

concerns their community, as well as to enlighten the student's

knowledge in order for them to develop or join Local Government

Office (LGO) that deal with this topic.

The Researchers

The outcome of this study will be beneficial to the researchers and

future researchers for this study may be one of the bases in a new

theory.
