A. Motivation
“Pick Up a Question”

This activity would allow the learners to boost their self-confidence by expressing themselves
spontaneously.

The student will pick up and answer a question from the box.
Questions in the box are as follows:
o What past event make you regret?
o What is the specific event in the past you want to experience again?
o Given the chance, what past event woud you like to correct?
o Cite specific current situations which you think are directly related to your
past?
o What adjustments are you doing in order to get rid of ruthless events in the
past?
o Why is it important to value past events?
o What makes you afraid and/or excited about the future?

Our lesson for today is about the WH Questions.

Formulating WH-Questions
Question words are also known WH-Questions. How are they formed?
Examples:
1. Who are joining the contest?
2. What is the advertisement all about?
3. When will it be held?
4. Where will it be held?
5. What are the details in an advertisement?
WH-Questions are formed by inserting wh-word in place of the missing information.
WH-Question focus on a particular part of the sentence.
WH-Question ask for information and we do not expect a yes-no answer.
We usually form wh-questions with wh- + an auxiliary verb (be, do or have) + subject + main verb or with wh-
+ modal verb + subject + main verb:

Examples:
When are you leaving?
Why didn’t you call me?
Where do they live?
Where should I park?
Take note of the following question words and the answers or short reply they needed. Study the
examples as well.

interviewees to share the things that they did in the past and they don’t do now and the things that
they usually do before up until now. Jot down all their answers to the questions.

(One member of the group will act as the teacher or parent or barangay official and the rest will act
as interviewers.)
