Team Charter

SUBJECT: A & D Solutions (Group 3) Team Charter

MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of our IFixit project is to help those who can't afford to fix items that they use in their
everyday lives. We are more focused on helping college students who sometimes do not have the
means to go out and repurchase expensive items when they break. We strive to make our IFixit projects
easy and simple to understand to hopefully give the best results in resolving a person's issues with their
items. We aim to follow the lead of the creator of IFixit and help fix items rather than throw them away.

GOALS

Our goals are to create an IFixit manual promptly to help people fix products at home rather than
continuing the consumerism cycle of buying and throwing items away, as well as to show that our team
can work collaboratively and efficiently. All assignments are completed on time and correctly with
minimal to no conflicts and to maintain the team charter agreement of expectations and conflict
resolution standards. We will be sure to have all documents and assignments ready to go a day before
the due date in order to avoid missing any deadlines that we have.
COLLABORATION EXPECTATIONS

Alyssa and I will be communicating over discord to discuss project ideas and how to fix our product. We
will talk and text over discord as needed and meet in person either at a local coffee shop or CSUF. Our
expectation for this project is to do an equal amount of work to make this a fair project for both of us,
we will split the work as evenly as we can, and for more complex and challenging parts of the project,
we will work together. I think because Alyssa and I both have a full class schedule and work I think the
appropriate amount of time to wait would be within a five-hour range during the day or at least the
morning after a text is sent to move on. During the event that one person is sick, calls and zoom
meetings will be utilized, but the non-ill person will be able to have the final decision regarding in-class
activities. In Markel’s book Technical Communication, he has a note that to pull your weight, you need
to communicate with one another. As a result, Daniel and I will communicate about projects as well as
conflicts as soon as possible (Markel, p. 67).

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

I think the best way for both of us to solve any conflict, if we have any, is to take it on right away. If
Alyssa and I begin to have problems or concerns with one another regarding the work being done for
the project, I think the best way to solve the issue is to talk to the other person right away. We can
figure out the why of the issue and devise a plan for everyone to have their fair share of work. Then use
the consensus method, as mentioned in Wolfe's book Team Writing: A Guide to Working in Groups, to
find a compromise that works for both. If things become unsolvable with one another, I think the
following action that needs to be taken would be to involve the professor and devise a solution (Wolfe,
p. 37).
