6.4 Manpower
The actual manpower of each type of installation may vary according to the site
condition and requirement.

All workers shall wear appropriate PPE (Hard Hat, Protective Boots, Goggles,
High Visibility Vest and Protective Gloves) and safety harness when working
above 2 meter in height.
7.0 INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
7.1 General Guidelines
In addition to these are installation instruction, follow all federal, state and local
laws, regulations, codes and safety precautions that pertain to the pipe sleeve and
fire seal and/or their associated systems.

7.1.1 Pre-Planning Stage

 Secure all necessary design information and prepare all the necessary
designed drawings.
 Submission of design drawings for approval.
 Prepare all necessary shop drawings and determine the actual position to
commence installation with the mobilization of required work force, tools
and equipment.
 Prepare all documents required in Specification submittals and all
documents/certification required in Specification.
 Prepare material approval document, complete with confirmation of
conformance between delivered material with approved material
(code/model/type, length, weight, width, materials, quantity, etc).
 Ensure all approval required to perform work are obtained and conform
with approved documents by Consultant Engineers and Architect.

7.2 Installation Stage

Ensure pipes are not kept along access route and free from rubbish and debris.
Pipes must be stacked properly in a dry area and covered until required for
installation. Ensure pipes size and material used comply to approved shop
drawing and according to coordinated routing. Ensure internal surface of pipes
are clean.
7.2.1 Material delivery and handling
 Check model and type of material or equipment against delivery
order.
 Check any damage during transportation.
 If there is any evidence of damage, an internal inspection shall be
made together with supplier’s representative and the consultant.
A report shall be submitted to the Consultant on completion of
such inspection.
 Route identification and marking work shall not be started until
coordinates with other Mechanical and Electrical Services.
 Minor deviation from the approved construction drawing and
M&E drawing would be determined on site with the consent of
consultant site staff.

7.2.2 Pipe Sleeve Installation

 Confirm Location
Check the approved shop drawings for the actual location of the
pipe sleeve to be provided.
 Marking
Mark the location of the pipe and identify the size of pipe sleeve
to be provided. (Note: The maximum pipe sleeve size normally 1
pipe size bigger than the actual pipe running).
 Submit for Approval
Then, the location and size of pipe sleeve to be provided shall be
submit to consultant approval. The information of sleeve (type)
sometimes can be finding inside the approved shop drawing as
well.
 Install
 Upon approval, the pipe sleeve shall be provided before the
concreting.
 Complete sleeve installation shall be covered or protected
using canvas (where applicable). This canvas also acting as a
sign for others to be aware of it (not to step/stamp, which will
bring damage to the sleeve)

7.2.3 Fire Seal Installation

 Installed Pipe Sleeve
Penetrate the wall / slab with the required pipe sleeve size. Once
completed, insert the pipe sleeve accordingly.
 Inspect Pipe & Sleeve
Ensure pipe sleeve or galvanized sheet are installed with a proper
gap spacing.
 Insert Rockwool (if necessary)
Insert Rockwool to the center area in between sleeve and pipe
and create a tight bond.
 Apply Sealant / Fire Seal
Apply fire sealant to the front gap of pipe sleeve. Ensure
minimum sealant penetration depth should not less than 12mm.

 I Touch - Up
Ensure the fire sealant have filled all the visible gap and make a
smooth surface finished.
 Indicator
Apply sticker to the pipe sleeve to indicate location, type of
services and personnel involved in the above works.
