Justification

The most important piece of infrastructure that city people require is public transportation. People must
wait for buses for a long time without knowing when they will arrive. Public transportation frequently
arrives late at the bus stop due to severe traffic jams and road construction. The travelers can't find a
comfortable seat while traveling. For a traveler, finding a comfortable seat would be a dream come true.
The rudeness of the driver or conductor, who frequently breaks the law and tries to overload with a higher
capacity of the bus, is the frequent and irritating issue faced by the passengers. Poor management of the
public transportation system encourages the use of more private vehicles, which increases traffic congestion
and pollution in the city. The number of passengers during rush hour increases as cities' populations grow.
Travelers are late for work, and students are late for class as a result.

It is challenging to envision life without transportation when compared to earlier periods when there was
no transportation. People used to wait in long lines at counters in the early days of transportation to purchase
tickets and assert seats. They frequently encounter issues brought on by human error, such as the potential
for losing a ticket or failing to obtain the necessary seat in a timely manner. Customers aren't the only ones
experiencing difficulties; the bus driver also does because there is a lot of paperwork and a need for human
physical attention. Since paperwork is typically required for every transaction, mistakes in seat assignment,
payment collection, and ticket distribution do occur occasionally. There was no appropriate, error-free route
for this process. All of a sudden, technology advanced quickly, and the transportation system evolved.
Online reservations have grown in popularity recently, greatly simplifying people's lives. There are some
places where they are successfully used, despite not being used everywhere. Most of us book tickets online
for lengthy trips like the one from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, but I have personally encountered and
witnessed serious problems with the city's local transportation system. I have not come across a website
where I can make reservations for local buses, which is a problem that locals have previously encountered
when there were buses but no online system option. Most travelers can't find a seat because of the crowding,
and exchanging money to pay for the bus fare takes a while. People who are unfamiliar with the city found
it challenging to travel to their destination. Buses frequently arrive at stations late, which is problematic for
the passengers who must decide whether to wait for the bus or take another mode of transportation.

The popular belief in various global circles is that person is currently living in an age of information
gathering, processing, and dissemination, referred to simply as the information age. As a consequence,
managers and other information users, particularly in the transportation industry, are demanding more types
of information to support management and operations. As a result, they must respond to the growing
demand for information and data management. Electronic tickets, also known as e-tickets, provide proof
that their holders have permission to enter a place of entertainment, use a mode of transportation, or access
certain Internet services. The design of this online system will benefit the company because it has not
previously existed in the local city.

Therefore, a system that can automate its manual operations in the area of bus ticket reservation will be
greatly appreciated by Imo (the international maritime organization) Transport Company, Owerri, a viable
investment owned by the state government whose primary objectives are to spread comfort and hospitality
to passengers away from their home and to make profit. This is necessary to meet customers' growing
demand during peak and off-peak seasons. The ultimate goal is to motivate a feasibility study to encourage
any future potential investors, especially those in the bus industry, to think about using the Imo
transportation as a gateway to the fertile ground of limitless opportunities in south-east Nigeria.

Currently, staff at the bus ticket counter is using an internal system to sell tickets at the counter and
customers who are unable to buy bus ticket online at this moment would have to go to the counter to a buy
bus ticket. Sometimes, customers’ needs to queue up a long queue to buy bus ticket and ask for information
and this brings a lot of inconveniences to customers. However, the customer can easily purchase bus tickets,
make payments and can ask for information in online. thanks to the Online Bus Ticket Reservation System.
Additionally, after verifying the customer's bus ticket availability and printing the customer's bus ticket,
staff can sell bus tickets using the bus ticket reservation system.

Because this system allows users to reserve tickets for future dates as well, it is necessary for users to enter
their information accurately in order to locate the appropriate bus. Once this is done, users can select the
date of their trip. The passenger is then prompted for personal information, such as name, age, address,
phone number, and preferred bus seat.
