I have grown as a teacher from the information learned this semester with a bigger

imagination into creativity in the classroom. Coming into this semester I knew art was important
to be doing in the classroom, but never knew the different aspects, principles, elements and more
that go into it that can be taught to your students. I was a very open, intrigued, and structural
teacher coming into this semester and while I still want to follow those characteristics, I also
want to add in my now insight of artistic development into my teaching. Adding more creative
development and art to my future classroom will definitely be implemented for my student to be
able to showcase each individual creative personality.

One skill I plan to use in my classroom to make me a better educator would be more
visuals in a classroom for students to be able to have their own copy of or left in the classroom
for them to always have access to. Visual learning is becoming more common and as a future
educator I think this would be very beneficial for my students and their education. Another skill I
want to implement into my teaching would be to keep a structural and consistent environment for
my students, but also open and creative. Students should be able to show their personalities
through art and other developmental skills while also being organized and structured. Lastly, I
want to bring more hands-on learning to my classroom. As I have said, with today’s generations
we are now turning into a very technological educational system which has its pros and cons.
But, I want to bring hands-on learning to my classroom for students to be able to see first-hand
what they can do, how they do it, and the success that can come from doing things hands-on.

I thought that the most beneficial part of this class was the eye-opening moment it
brought to me about valuing creative artistic personalities more than just an educational journey
for a student. There are so many important characteristics to our students, and their artistic
development is a big part of that, and they should have the opportunities to show that off. I feel
that this was the most beneficial part of the class as I have always known to teach students about
being themselves and showing/creating their own personalities as they grow, but not knowing to
incorporate art as much into it. They can use art to show how they may be feeling that day, or
something influential to them that can be shared to others, or maybe even something about their
culture that they want to show the class. Art can be used in so many different aspects of a
student’s educational journey.

I want to look into the concept of Visual Literacy more and incorporate that into my
classroom frequently. I know that visual literacy is all around us every day, but we don’t always
stop and look or think how it can influence us or the message we may get from it. Though we
don’t think of it as much, but visual literacy can speak to our students more than we think. I think
that this can be beneficial in a classroom as we are now in the generation of more visual learners
compared to hands-on leaners as technology is being incorporated more and more into education.
Visual literacy can be shown all throughout technology which is why it would be important for
teachers to have more in-depth learning about it for their classrooms.
