War on Iraq

Research Question

A research question is a question the research intends to answer after analysis. The research

question guides the writer on what they need to examine. The writer will focus on the research

question because it helps them focus on the research work, such as the methodologies used. The

research question also helps the writer plan themselves such that they do their research based on

the topic to avoid irrelevancy. A good research question must be clear to both the writer and the

audience, providing required explanations based on the study. It should also be focused,

avoiding unnecessary explanations. A research question should be concise, brief, and straight to

the point. A writer should avoid using too many unnecessary words as they may be boring to the

audience. The paper should be somehow complex to attract the attention of the audience.

Lastly, it should be arguable; it should give room for debate. A good research paper should not

be fixed but flexible for adjustment when needed.

Part 1: Summary and analysis

After the terrorists had attacked the US in 2001, President George W. Bush declared war on Iraq

and announced measures to stop terrorism in the US. This speech came after the terror attack,

and the president felt Al Qaeda was planning more attacks, so he sent military troops to the

borders. In his speech, he blamed Saddam Hussein for harming and killing innocent Americans

through the Iraq troops. The Iraq troops used innocent civilians, especially women and children,

as shields. The president was unhappy about this and condemned the act in his speech. He went

ahead to inform the US citizens about the coalition forces whose main aim was to ensure that the

Innocent citizens were protected from harm by the terrorists. He urged the Americans to
continue praying for the military on the battlefield and encouraged them to stray strong. The US

government never had any problem with Iraq, but many issues were to control their borders and

restore the peaceful relationship. He continued encouraging the soldiers’ families to stay strong,

for they were fighting for the whole country. He assured them of their support and informed

them that the soldiers would return home after restoring peace. In his speech, the primary

concern of the US government was to ensure that Americans live peacefully and to bring an end

to mass murder.

President G. W. Bush came to deliver a speech to the Americans at night; this alone was strange

since it was not his norm to give it at that hour. Meaning something has gone a mess. Sending

the soldiers to battle was to fight for American freedom. The Iraq troops were killing

Americans, depriving them of the freedom to stay in their own country. In his speech, he said

the main reason for sending those soldiers to the borders was to maintain Americans’ freedom.

He thanked everybody who supported Americans during the war, and he thanked both Muslims

and Christians for their prayers. Al Qaeda, the terror, was the main threat to the US; their

intention was not to steal or make money from the Americans but to conquer the US using their

beliefs and superstitions. This was not accepted, and before Al Qaeda could spread, the

president sent soldiers to stop the entry of Al Qaeda into the US. He urged the people of the

Afghanistan government to stay away from any act of terrorism and also ordered the Taliban to

free all the terrorists who might be hiding on their land. He also demanded that the Taliban

release all the foreign nationals they had arrested, including journalists. They were also ordered

to close all the terrorist training areas; this was a move to end terrorism. The president assured

Americans peace when all the measures he placed had been implemented.

Part 2: Audience and Purpose Genre

The audience is the people who will read a research paper; they might be lecturers or other

scholars, whereas the purpose is why someone is writing an essay. The audience and purpose are

related such that they have mutual benefits; one cannot exist without the other. The audience

will determine the purpose of the paper. For instance, when it is a research paper, the audience

should be someone who understands that particular subject. The purpose of the paper should be

related to the writer’s course. Genre groups the literature works categorically depending on the

type of writing. Literature has different genres: poetry, drama, prose, and fiction. Genre mainly

helps the reader to be able to identify the style, whether it is factual or imaginative. The

audience helps the writer decide on the information to incorporate into the paper. They may also

give feedback on the writer’s areas to improve and adjust. The tone is the flow the writer has

decided to use in their essay. Voice is just the personality chosen by the writer based on the

words used. Composition is creativity made in written form in a flowing manner. Non-fiction

is information based on facts. Autoethnography is a research method that mainly depends on

the researcher’s experience to prove the findings.
