Maintenance of RMPU

TRIP INSPECTION
• All defects noted in logbook to be attended.
• Visual inspection of all equipments.Attend any defect noticed.
• Any defective part/ equipment may be replaced by good one.
• Check all safety devices/protection devices for proper
functioning.No safety device should be bye passed.
• Check proper functioning of time delay relay.
• Check all switches, MCB and contactors in panel. Replace if found
defective.
• Check LED and pilot lamp.Replace if found defective.
• Check functioning of Thermostat.
• Clean fresh air and return air filters.
• Check panel doors for any defects.
• Run AC plant and check proper functioning. Check the specified
temperature is being maintained . Check cut in and cut out of
thermostat.
Monthly inspection
• All items of trip inspection
• Measure current of compressors and motors.
• Check fixing arrangement of compressors, condenser motors and blower
motors.Attend to any defects.
• Remove dust from panel by compressed air.
• Check functioning of single phasing preventer by creating single phasing.
• Check overload relays for correct setting.
• Check current taken by RMPU.
• Check condenser fan for any defects.
• Check for proper tightening of cover provided over evaporator compartment.
• Check legend plates inside panel. Replace defective plates.
• Check all cable terminals, motor terminals and compressor terminals for loose
connection and any abnormality.
• Check functioning of time delay relays.
• Check drainage of drip water by pouring water in drip tray for free flow.
Nine monthly schedule (IOH)
• All items of trip inspection and monthly inspection to be done
• Thoroughly clean all parts and equipments by compressed air or
wiping.
• Check all fasteners, fixation of compressors, condenser motors,
blower motors.
• Any defective equipment to be replaced.
• Compressors , condenser motors, blower motors are to be checked
for any abnormality, abnormal sound and over heating and
vibration
• Ensure gaskets in access doors for proper sealing.
• Return air dampers to be checked for their proper positioning to
get optimum efficiency
• Check insulation resistance of all motors by 1000 v megger.
• Do not allow safety/ protective devices in bypass condition
• Check anti vibration mountings of compressors and motors .
Replace if necessary
POH SCHEDULE
• All the items mentioned trip, monthly & six monthly schedule to
be done.
• Run the AC plant ,notedown, if any deficiencies are noticed
• Remove RMPU from the coach and keep in shop floor.
• Electrical panel should be cleaned with compressed air for
removal of dust and dirt from the panel.
• Check electrical wiring & its ferrules as per the schematic
diagram. Insert ferrules, if it is missing.
• Blower impellers, Condenser fans, Electrical heaters are to be
physically checked for any damage, in case of damage replace
the same with new one.
• Electrical harness, flexible Conduit inside the RMPU is to be
checked and to be replaced with new one, in case of damage.
• TDR T1 & T2 settings are to be checked, if disturbed set the
same to safe guard the compressor at starting as per the
requirement of the specification i.e. CP1 at 2 min and CP2 after
a delay of 30 secs. .
POH SCHEDULE
• Check for proper fixation all parts,equipments and pipe lines.
Any thing loose should be tightened.
Replace Fresh and Return air filters.
• Roof Mounted AC Package Unit should be properly cleaned with
compressed air so that any foreign material i.e. leaves, papers
and dust particles in between the fins of the coil and in zali of
fresh air opening, can be removed for better performance.
• Return air dampers should be fixed at desired position.
• Condenser and Blower motor are checked for abnormal noise, if
any vibration due to loose mounting bolts or loose electrical
connections is there, same should be attended.
• After checking the LP & HP pressure, if required the refrigerant
gas can be charged in the respective circuit.
• Resting rubber of RMPU in the coach should be changed with
new ones.
POH SCHEDULE
• Check Anti Vibration mounting pads physically, replace it, in case
of damage with new one.
• Replace cotton canvas supply and return air duct with new one.
• Top cover of RMPU cover should be covered with Rubber sheet.
• Refrigeration pipelines should be checked physically for any
damage. Water leakage test should be carried out after
rectification
• Check the earthing shunt and provide, if not provided.
• Check IR value of individual equipment with 2000 V megger. It
should be within limit.
• Carry out gas leak test with soap foam.
• Insulate the suction pipe line, if not provided.
• Replace gasket of access doors.
• Replace mercury in glass thermostat by electronic thermostat.
• Charge gas if necessary.
POH SCHEDULE
• Use cleaning agent for cleaning of sludge inside the pipe wall.
• Thoroughly clean condenser and evaporator by water jet with 10
kg pressure.
• Paint the body of RMPU where ever required. If body is rusted
or damaged, it should be repaired/replaced.
• If any part is found rusted same to be removed.
• After POH RMPU should be as new. Its performance should be
equivalent to newone.
