MS PUBLISHER PARTS AND FUNCTIONS

Microsoft Publisher lets you work easily as you do in microsoft word. This software
lets you create different publications such as invitations, certificates, signs, flyers,
brochures, program, etc.
To use built-in templates;
- Click on File > New.

- You may select one of those templates available, then click create.

- Once the selected template is open in publisher, you may start formatting and
editing on it.

WORKING WITH OBJECTS

- All objects will be formatted into movable

boxes, outlined with a border with small
white circles and squares.
- In adding text, you may go to insert tab,
and click on the Draw Text Box, that lets
you click and drag to create your own text
object.
 - In adding pictures, simply go to insert Tab, and
click on Pictures, and you will be prompted with
a directory, just locate the image that you wish
to insert.

- In adding borders and accents, you may go to insert tab, and select, borders
and accents, you will be provided with sample templates. Just click to select it.

- You may explore each Tab, for few customizations.

- You can easily select an element or object that you want to customize, and
you may drag it anywhere to reposition and resizing.

SAVING THE FILES

- Go to Files, click on Save and you will be prompted for the filename and file
format.
- Here, you may select the file format, either in PDF format, or jpeg/png, etc.
DESIGN CHECKER

- you may also use this

publisher’s feature, design
checker, a tool that reviews your
final content for layout or design
that would appear on the right
side of the ms publisher
interface.
- This feature can be accesible
through clicking on File, and
then under the Info, click on this
Run Design Checker.

Exercise 1
Directions: Depending on the availability of devices at home,
For those who have either desktop computer / laptop / mobile phone, or any gadgets:
• Open either desktop computer / laptop / mobile phone, or any gadgets available at home,
and try to open any MS PUBLISHER software and be able to explore its features on each
Tab.
- On a short size bond paper, summarize the useful features under the HOME Tab.

Directions: Depending on the availability of devices at home,
For those who have either desktop computer / laptop / mobile phone, or any gadgets:
• Open either desktop computer / laptop / mobile phone, or any gadgets available at home,
and try to open any MS PUBLISHER software and be able to explore its features on each
Tab.
- Design at least 1 sample of either an invitation card, certificate, or a sample brochure
which should be consisting of some objects or elements (i.e. text, image, borders, etc.).
- Be creative.
- Save it with a filename, activity1_publisher.
- Send it to this email: melrose.conde@deped.gov.ph

For those who don’t have the device at home to use, you may just use a long size bond paper,
and write down the step by step process on how to use this software and its important features
available.
