Different people have different types of job preferences based on their education, upbringing,

interest, and skills that are achieved for this job. As I have chosen my career as a marketing
promotion officer, I have gone through different activities related to a marketing job (Sperling,
2013). As I have completed my graduation from this relevant sector, marketing is the most relevant
job for me. I have gathered lots of skills and qualities to do this job, mostly my educational
background shaped my preference for this job. I have both good IT skills and soft skills which
helped me to get this job. I have faced lots of challenges and difficulties in my career path and
when I have faced these problems, I have solved this with patience and perseverance (Oaks, 2013).

Different people have different professional interests based on their personal preferences.
Professional interest is shaped and formed by academic background, gaining professional skills,
societal background, different customs and traditions that they believed in, digital skills, soft skills,
and a lot more factors are engaged (Sperling, 2013). It’s too much important to identify the
professional interest, if someone chooses a professional interest in which he/she doesn’t have any
interest or hasn’t any sufficient skills regarding the interest it’s quite difficult to achieve the
professional goal and development in career. So, before setting the professional interest it is
important to analyze everything. I have chosen my professional interest before consulting and
analyzing my capability and skills (Christen, 2019).

My career path is not so smooth and flexible, I have lots of struggles and challenges before taking
this marketing-related job. As I have recently graduated from the university so, searching for a job
related to my education is much more difficult. I have gone through lots of competition to get this
job. The job market is really difficult and competitive for newcomers. I have done my internship
in marketing after completing my graduation (Mitchel, 2018). This job needs a lot of creativity,
problem-solving ability, communication skills, and market foresight. When I first started the job
it was quite bit difficult for me and after a certain period of time, I was used to this environment.
Firstly, I have started my journey as an entry-level officer, but an entry-level job is so challenging
and hardworking. If someone works hard and gives lots of effort into this his future is too much
bright in this field. I am continuously giving lots of effort, showing my creativity, enhancing
effective communication skills, and trying to adapt to the changes in situations (Darrat, Amyx and
Bennett, 2017).

3
As I started my career as a marketing promotion officer, it’s not necessarily that my career will be
limited to this entry-level job. This post is for entry-level job holders who needn’t have too many
qualifications and experience. Need some basic skills and qualifications and lots of scopes to
upgrade this post to the highest post. After successfully doing my entry-level marketing officer job
I will be promoted to mid-level marketing officer which is designated as a marketing manager
(Oaks and Sperling, 2013). A marketing manager is a decent post and it needs lots of qualities and
experience. This a policy-making level job, it needs lots of intellectual ability and creativity.
Different marketing managers have lots of responsibility to promote the organization. They need
to communicate with different stakeholders of the business. Making marketing strategies and
policies a marketing manager has lots of roles. After successfully doing my marketing manager
job, I will be promoted to Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). This is the highest designation for the

4
marketing job. Every entry-level marketing officer has dreamt to be a Chief Marketing Officer
(CMO) post (DeCarlo and Agarwal, 2013).

I have some strong points which helped me to do the job successfully. When I first started my
career, I was a little bit nervous and lack of confidence. After doing few days, I was overcoming
these loopholes. I explored that I have good communication skills which very much essential for
a marketing job holder. As marketing is an outgoing type of job it needs good communication
skills. In my graduation periods, I have engaged with different clubs and held a leadership post
that is helped me (Mitchel, 2018). As leadership is an important quality for this job. Adaptability
is another crucial factor in a marketing job. Every day the taste, trends, and preferences of people
have changed with time. Adapting to this changing situation is another big skill of a marketing job.
A marketer has to always be updated with the changing situation. Analytical and critical thinking
ability is the most important skills of this job. Analyzing the situation and people’s minds are
needed for this job because understanding the people or customer mind and psychology is
important for promoting the business (Mitchel, 2018). Human psychology is the most complex
and sophisticated thing on earth. Market analysis is an integral part of marketing-related jobs.
Technical skills are supposed to be the inherent quality of people in this age of the modern era.
The company thinks that a person has all the basic marketing qualities for this post. A marketing

5
officer has always explored the market sometimes he/she needs to research on market. I have all
these qualities which are helped me to develop in my career (Dimitrovski and Topalovic, 2013).

Before starting this career, I have some weak points. When I was entering as fresh blood to this
job field, I had lots of weaknesses. These weaknesses are; problems with effective communication,
the problem with confidence, poor time management, fear of rejection, and a non-supportive
mentality in this job field. In the beginning, I have lots of problems with communication, as
communication is the heart of marketing. Marketing means promotion, advertising, and lot more
things but the main essence is that engagement with more people. So, effective communication is
a must for the development of a marketing career. Time management is also a big problem for the
fresher (Holmes and Srivastava, 2021).

6
Unlike any other job, a marketing job has challenges (Oaks, 2013). I have faced many challenges
which are; difficulty to adjust with changing situations, excessive job pressure, less technical skill,
and being unaware of strong and weak points are the challenges I have faced.

7
I have given lots of effort to overcome these problems, at first, I sorted out my problem, and then
work according to my error. I have upgraded my communication skills, develop my IT and soft
skills, increasing my IT skills, as a marketing strategy for this job (Karatepe, Yavas and Babakus,
2017).

8
I have given some suggestions or recommendations, these are; increasing the convincing power,
developing the soft skills, increasing engagement, upgrading the technological knowledge,
understanding the market and its differences, developing communication skills, and understanding
of people’s psychology and mind is important for this job.
