Objectives

At the end of this lesson, you can:

1. Demonstrate understanding on the importance of limiting damage in a Crisis

2. Identify methods to create less impact on damages due to a crisis

Try this!

Relative to your role as a leader (previously and the future), what measures
you think will be effective to lessen the damage of a Crisis.

I believe that when leader is facing a crisis the things a leader could do
are to contain, manage, and control the situation. These three things could be
an effective way to lessen the damage of a crisis situation. For instance, when
a certain brand face a scandal or a situation of company where their brand
could be put into bad reputation so managing the situation is important
especially for a public perception to protect their brand image and reputation.
Managing the situation is an important aspect of damage control since it deals
with the actual situation for example lawsuits and preventing people to loss
their job. Controlling the damage of a crisis is essential because it is not only
to contain or manage the damage but it also save the company integrity itself.
Good Job!

Think ahead!

Reflective Feedback: Why do you think limiting damage from a Crisis is essential?

In every crisis situation there are many possible damage it could create to a
certain organization or company. In order to contain and lessen the damage that a
crisis would cause we need to control and limit the damage it creates. Limiting the
damage is essential to a crisis because it is a method to stop or lessen the damage and
maybe to resolve the situation. For instance, the infamous Zamboanga wooden
footbridge where many government officials even the mayor of Zamboanga fell on
the river due to the collapse of the bridge. This crisis have already spread all over the
social media and the things they do is just fix the bridge with the same material. And
what I noticed is that they put the blame on the people who created the bridge which I
think lessen the damage to their reputation.

See if you can do this!

As we identified above, there are three damage control methods that we can use
in restoring confidence – describe each as to why they are important in regaining
Public Trust and restore confidence. Put your answer to the box corresponding to each
of them.

Communication is essential when mitigating

COMMUNICATION the after effect of crisis because communication
is a way to discuss to people on what a
company should do about the crisis. It is a way
to clear things up and inform public about the
side of the company. Communication is a key
to lessen or maybe to solve the damage of a
crisis.
Preventing the impact of a crisis is very
RESPONSIBILITY important in order to show to people that a
certain organization is responsible enough to
take immediate action to their mistakes. It is a
responsibility of a certain organization to take
the blame and resolve the crisis as soon as
possible. It is really essential for an
organization especially when it is a company
who is visible to the public
In every problem there is always a solution so it
RESOLUTION is very important to resolve it quickly to stop
the damage it will cause. if a problem occur it
should be immediately address especially if this
problem could involve human life, create a
sense of panic, and involve the media.
