Activity  The lesson will begin with me giving a small discussion
on the definitions of congruent and noncongruent.
 I will have them write those new definitions they
learned down in their math journals for their own
review. While they have their math journals out, I will
pass out shapes to each table/group. With these
shapes students will have 10 minutes to work in their
group to determine if shapes were congruent or
noncongruent. Once everyone in the group has agreed
they will draw a chart in their journals like bellow:

With the chart they will draw the shapes they just
worked with and put them under the category they
decided as a group. We then will discuss the shapes
together as a class and I will draw the chart and put the
shapes in the correct categories for them so review.
Next, we will turn our attention to the interactive
whiteboard to continue our lesson with congruent
shapes. We will be using a premade Smart Exchange
assignment made by: Ms. Altieri called “Congruency”.
 The second slide gives a definition on congruent and
before showing the slide I will ask the class to give me
the definition.
 On Slide 3 I will have one group send one person up to
the board and circle all the shapes that are congruent.
 On slide 4 I will discuss all the changes I can do to the
shape and still have it be congruent.
 On slides 5-7, I will repeat with having one group send
up one person to the board to do the questions on the
slides.
 Slides 8-14, I will alternate between groups and
verbally ask them the answers to the questions on the
slides.
 After we complete the Smart Exchange assignment, I

give students worksheets about congruent and


noncongruent shapes to further their knowledge to
finish the lesson.
