Intravenous Preparation, Regulation &Computation and Medical Abbreviation

Objectives

At the end of 2 hours and 30 minutes, the participant will be able to:

 Identify materials needed in IV administration, its indications, and importance.


 Practice proper safety and aseptic technique in preparing and in the administration of IV
therapy.
 Demonstrate changing of an IV bottles and documentation of entire procedure.
 Calculate the rate of flow in intravenous fluid infusions and demonstrate proper flow rates with
IV tubing without infusion pump
 Recognize and understand basic medical terms
 Identify and pronounce basic medical abbreviations
 Analyze unfamiliar terms using the knowledge of word roots, suffixes and prefixes gained in the
course
