Question:

1. In 500 words, comprehensively explain why it is important for nurses to understand the study of
aging and the aged. Cite personal experiences, available data, and reliable sources if necessary.

From the standpoint of public health, aging is a significant risk factor for a number of human
pathologies, such as neurological illnesses like Alzheimer's, various cancers, and metabolic disorders,
which are now considerably more common in the elderly. Considering that older persons are more
likely to have one or more chronic health disorders, studying and understanding the elderly can help
us better grasp the important elements that influence their health. People who are older need more
medical treatments than patients who are younger. It is crucial that all nurses possess particular
knowledge regarding older people. Promoting health and wellbeing has grown more important as the
number of older people’s increases globally since it helps people age healthily. Physical and mental
health is tightly tied to wellbeing, and this connection could become even more important as people
age better. Determining the causal underlying processes that deteriorate with age and lead to
increased disease susceptibility and frailty is critical, if we are to meet the growing healthcare needs of
aging human populations, with the goal of using this knowledge to develop novel therapeutic
strategies to treat age-onset disorders. Nurses must fulfill the expanding healthcare requirements of
elderly and identify the causal underlying cellular and molecular processes that degrade with age and
increase disease vulnerability and frailty.
