Larong Pinoy being included as a

Tour Package Activity in the Philippines

I. Introduction

Larong Pinoy is the game of our heritage (Laro ng Lahi). Generations of Filipinos
have treasured it as a cultural treasure (yaman ng lahi). It is a beloved activity that
spans generations and is dear to Filipinos' hearts, enjoyed by everyone from our
grandparents to our parents to today's youth and young children. While, Tour package
is considered as a pre-planned, pre-paid trip that combines two or more types of
travel, such as air travel, ground transportation, lodging, and other services.
According to estimates from the United Nations World Tourism Organization
(UNWTO), there were only 25 million international visitors in 1950. 68 years later,
the annual number of foreign arrivals has risen to 1.4 billion. This represents a 56-fold
rise, which means one of the things that people plan for and spend money on is
traveling. People were being conquered by technology. It gives ease to all people to
do their tasks at home, and send messages wherever whenever people are. Through
that Larong Pinoy slowly disappeared and was replaced by Online games such as
Mobile Legends, Valorant, League of Legends, Grand Theft Auto, and so on, which
people get addicted to and cause physical and mental issues sometimes. The number
of online gamers is currently estimated at 1 billion, with China, South Korea, and
Japan having the largest populations of online gamers. Online gaming audiences are
anticipated to reach 1.3 billion users by 2025. The healthiest option for gaming so far
is larong pinoy. Man has engaged in outdoor athletic recreation since the dawn of
time. It aids in children's healthy physical development, the development of muscular
strength, and body fitness. It improves your health and does more. Comparing outdoor
activity players to online gamers, it has been found that the former have higher self-
confidence. This is because playing games in-person requires more effort and upkeep
than playing games online does. With this self-assurance, people eventually develop
the ability to overcome challenges in life as if they were field games.
Therefore, the objective of the researcher is to preserve the beauty of Philippine
culture by incorporating Larong Pinoy into all travel packages that both foreigners
and Filipinos will purchase. Moreover, this study intends to highlight and convey
back to everyone visiting the Philippines, the high standard of living of Larong Pinoy.
Additionally, it aids in preserving Philippine Culture over time. Moreover, it can
benefit guest in unwinding throughout their stay and in engaging in new or missed
activities.

E-learning strategies for engendering local knowledge appreciation in teenage learners

Larong Pinoy on weebly is an interesting collaborative work among teenagers 15-16 years of
age who call themselves the Pinoy Republic group. Their objective in setting up the simple
website is “to promote nationalism, strengthen family ties, involve the community in
worthwhile activities, and keep the children in school through games and sports.” As young
as they are, they hope to bring back the larong pinoy in the country. The site has compilations
of Filipino games complete with photos and short description of how they are being played. It
also has an interesting section comparing “healthy games” versus computer games and their
pros and cons. One can even take a test to determine whether you are suffering from
computer games addiction!

Larong Pinoy Corporate Team Building Sports Fest

This article by Dickie Agudao (2014) presented that team-Building Activity using Sports as a
platform; specifically, using the Traditional Filipino Street Games as activities. The program
is organized by Magna Kultura Foundation, the National Organizer of the Filipino Games in
the Philippines. The Palarong Pinoy events are conducted in a Mini-Olympics sports format
with referees, marshals, and a tournament system that organizes adults into teams with Team
Captains and Coaches. Adults are immersed into fun games like: Patintero, Tumbang Preso,
Piko, Luksong Lubid, Luksong Tinik, Chinese Garter, Sipang Bilangan, and various Pinoy
relay race games. Larong Pinoy Games are equally fun and challenging. It’s an unforgettable
experience that each and every one will cherish, as it will bring out the child in every
participant. It will bring back the good ‘old days when they all use to play it. The program is
organized to make the Traditional Filipino Street Games available for adults. Organizing
Larong Pinoy Sports Fest for Private companies is among the cultural entrepreneurship
approaches of Magna Kultura to revive the Games of our Heritage (Laro ng Lahi) among
Filipino adults who use to play the games; so that they too can teach their children how to
play the games. Thus, bring back the Filipino games back in the mainstream of Philippine
society, among children and adults.
