In
Research in Child and Adolescent Development

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of one-hour lesson the students are expected to:
a. explain the basic principles of research.
b. demonstrate appreciation of the role of teachers as consumers and producers of
developmental research.
c. read researches on child and adolescent development and make simple research
abstracts out of researches read.

IV. PROCEDURE

A.PREPARATORY/PRILIMINARY ACTIVITIES
a. Introduction
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
“Classmate let us pray”
In the name of the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit,Amen.

All together: Our father who art in heaven

“Mr. Macabacyao, lead the prayer” hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

" Good morning class" “Good morning Teacher"

“Okay take your seats.” “Thank you ma’am”

“Okay say “Present”, if your name is
called.”

Adtoon... “Present”
Arapoc... “Present”
Bustria.. “Present”

b. Recall of previous topic

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
“What was the topic that we discussed last “Our topic that we discussed last meeting
meeting?” was all about The stages of Development
and Developmental tasks.”
“Very good! Who can give the The stages "" Havughurst has identified six major age
of Development?” periods:
1. Infancy and Early Childhood (0-5
years)
2. Middle Childhood (6-12 years)
3. Adolescence (13-18 years)
4. Early Adulthood (19-29 years)
5. Middle adulthood (30-60 years) and
6. Later maturity (61+)
“Very good! ."Now Who can give the “According to Santrock there are eight
Developmental Task?" Developmental Task.
1. Prenatal Period ( from conception to
birth)
2. Infancy ( from birth to 18-24
months)
3. Early Childhood ( end of infancy to
5-6 years (Grade 1))
4. Middle and late childhood ( 6-11
years of age, the elementary school
years)
5. Adolescence ( 10-12 years of age
ending up to 18-12 years of age)
6. Early adulthood ( from late teens or
Early 20s lasting through the 30s)
7. Middle Adulthood ( 40-60 years of
age)
8. Late adulthood ( 60s and above)
“Very good! Who can give me the "The six developmental phases listed by
difference of The Stages of Development Havighurst and those mentioned by
of Havighurst and the Developmental Task Santrock are identical, with the exception
of Santrock ?” of Havighurst's omission of the prenatal
period. While Santrock refers to infancy
and early childhood as two distinct stages,
Havighurst integrated the two."
“Were done, class!” So all those answers
is about the last topic of The Stages of
Development and Developmental task”

c. Motivation
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
" I have prepare here some statements “Okay ma’am.”
related in conducting research. Stand Up if
you would agree with statement and sit
down if you disagree with the statement"
( The teacher will read now the
statements)
" How do you find out activity?" (The students will answer)

“Very Good! Because our topic for today

class is all about the Research in Child
and Adolescent Development"
B. LESSON/ACTIVITY PROPER
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
“Our topic for today was all about “Adolescence is a transitional stage of
Research in Child and Adolescent physical and psychological development
Development So, what comes into your that generally occurs during the period
mind about Research in Child and from puberty to adulthood."
Adolescent Development?”

“Very Good! Another Idea please?" " It is the process of growth and
maturation of human individual from
conception to adulthood."
“Very Good! Is that all? I think there’s more "Child development”, or “child and
idea?” adolescent development” refer to the
process of growth and maturation of the
human individual from conception to
adulthood. The term “adolescence” has
particular connotations in particular cultural
and social contexts."
"Ok Very Good! Thank You students for
your Ideas"
“ Now let's proceed to the different types of
Research"
" Again! What are the 5 steps of Scientific “" Ma’am.”
Method.(John Dewey)?
" Yes Ms. Palero" "The 5 steps of Scientific Method. (John
Dewey) are the following:
1. Identify and define the problem
2. Determine the hypothesis
3. Collect and analyze data
4. Formulate conclusions
5. Apply conclusions to the original
hypothesis
“Very Good! Ms. Palero”
"This are the Impacts of Teacher's 1. "Teachers who have been involved
Research Involvement on Teachers. in research may become more
"Everybody! Kindly read the number 1" reflective, more critical and
analytical in their teaching, and
more open and committed to
professional development."
"Okay number 2 please read Ms. 2. "Participating in teacher research
Remegio" also helps teachers become more
deliberate in their decision- making
and actions in the classroom"

" Please read the last one Ms. Andona 5. "Teachers research has the
potential to demonstrate to teachers
and prospective teachers that
learning to reach is inherently
connected to learning to inquire "
" Thank you class"
" So those are the Impacts of Teacher's
Research Involvement on Teachers"

Learning Activities
“Okay! Let have some role play.” ‘Okay ma’am.”
“Two groups have five members in one
group.”
“Here’s the instruction. I will read the
Statements and You will Identify what it is"
"The first group who can give the correct
answer will get the points"
“Some of your classmates must observe of
what you are doing with. So now So, now
let's get started"
" Okay Group A got the first score for this " Yeheeey!"
round"
" This time the second group got the ""Yeheeey!"
score"
“Okay! Very Good Performance class.” " Thank You ma'am"
"Thank You for your participation in our
activity"
“Congratulations to the winning group"

V. EVALUATION

Direction: identify what is being asked in each statement.

1. It refers to the human individual from conception to adulthood.

2. A research design that determines association.
3. A research design that focuses on children's experiences in natural things
4. A research design that determines cause and effect relationships.
5. An in-depth look at an individual
6. This research design studies and follows through a single group over a
period of time.
7. A research strategy in which individuals of different ages are compare at
one time.
8-10. Give at least 3 steps of the Scientific Method according to John
Dewey.

 Case Study  Cross-sectional  Identify and
