Poem Analysis

After going through both poems I conclude that the second poem gives women the
shorter end of the spectrum and the first poem gives men the matter as well. The first
poem is written in the form of for every woman who enjoys there is a man that suffers
and for the second poem the roles were reversed. After reading both poems I can only
conclude that no one is at an advantage anymore when basing of their genders, sure
they can “take advantage” of their genders by exploiting their roles but on the contrary I
believe that one person no longer acts on a demographic to belittle the other gender or
be superior to the other gender but rather be superior to everyone regardless of sex or
gender identity.
Bonino was specific on highlighting the disadvantage of being a Female as he
interprets the poem on the stereotypes that are usually given to them while Smith also
does the same mirrored version where the male and female are swapped for the
advantages and disadvantages. Both poems are at an even 50/50 for challenging
gender roles which means that both genders have problems laid by their gender roles in
society.
I don’t really think I could improve over the work of Nancy Smith but if I were to add a
few lines I would add for every single mother that is given support a single father
struggles to feed his spawn. This is because most considerations and applause are
given to single mother’s because “some” fathers run away from the responsibilities of
their family but not every family is given the liberty of having both parents alive, in most
cases where the father is given custody of the child it’s either the mother died or has
subjected the child to neglect and is taking advantage of child support.
