LESSON PLAN IN SCHIZOPHRENIA

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of a 10- minute lesson, 80% of the


psychology students are expected to:

1. Identify the causes, symptoms and treatment for schizophrenia


2. Perform a short role play on how to deal with patients with schizophrenia when
experiencing hallucinations, delusions etc.
3. Appreciate the importance of awareness about schizophrenia through writing a
reflection paper

II. SUBJECT MATTER: Pyschology


III. MATERIALS: Laptop, cellphone, powerpoint presentation
IV. TOPIC: Schizophrenia

METHODOLOGY

1. Preparation
 Greet the students
 Ask a volunteer to lead the opening prayer
 Check the attendance

2. Motivation
 Present a short video clip about the schizophrenia

3. Review
 Review the students about the different psychotic disorders by asking them
to give a phrase of the things that they know about certain psychotic the
teacher will present.
 The teacher will write on the board the psychotic disorders given and the
phrases made by the students

4. Presentation
The teacher will do the following processes

 Ask the students about the things they have observe about the video
presented
 Write the phrases on the board the observations of the students
 Present the objectives of the lesson for today
 Discuss the causes, symptoms and treatment of Schizophrenia
5. Evaluation

The teacher will do the following processes:

 Ask the students to perform a role play about schizophrenia


 Give the rubrics of the performance (50% - accuracy of the information
presented, 30% - expression and body language, 20% - overall impression)
 Let the students perform the given scenario of the teacher
 On a ½ crosswise, the students will write a reflection about the activity in not
less than 3 sentences.
 Gather the papers and then have a short recap the lesson about the causes,
symptoms and treatment of schizophrenia
