WHAT IS The stock market is a market that sells and buys

shares. Activities in the stock market involve
STOCK sellers of shares, buyers of shares as well as

MARKET? institutions and jobs that have an interest in the

shares being traded. The main parties involved
in the stock market are investors, speculators
and the government. Each has different goals
and interests, but the main goal is the same,
namely to obtain maximum profit
When an investor buys stock, uses the services of a specialist company or a
stock trading app, he or she becomes a shareholder and owns part of a
company. Shareholders can make money by receiving dividends, paid out as
part of the company's annual profits, and when the value of their shares
increases.

Companies can also borrow money from investors by issuing bonds, loans for a
certain period of time with a fixed rate of interest. Securities refer to stocks and
bonds. Every year billions of stocks and bonds are sold or traded on the world's
major stock exchanges

Every day, the press provides prices and other information about the shares of
these listed companies. You can read news headlines about stocks on the
internet and then decide whether each company reflects the good or bad
performance of the company's shares on the stock exchange.

Reading Europeans Log On Investment Fever
Mr english, 51 years old, a computer consultant says "I come in every day, sometimes from the
office, morning and evening" he is still addicted to stock trading after a year and a half starting
it. Mr English is one of 10 Europeans who are feverish to invest online. There's a stock market
boom right now as lots of people are coming in to shop for financial products, as well as selling
and buying stocks. Compared to the United States, where about 20 percent of all trades are
made, moves in Europe are still early. But when the trend picked up American brokers moved to
the UK and set their sights on the UK. Their arrival is also a challenge for European stock
trading companies. Analysts expect this to quickly bring about change in the securities business.
For now although European investors can already use US online applications to buy US stocks,
American companies are not actively promoting this business for fear of upsetting European
securities regulators. However the long-term goal is to expand the system into a truly global
market where investors in any country will be able to trade shares freely across national
boundaries. Although internet usage in Europe still lags behind America's, it is expected to grow
even more in the next few years and the single European currency will push stock trading across
national boundaries.

the role of the verb when they are put together. They can also act
