(Hyland, 2003).

The Relationship between a Genre Based Approach and a Genre Based

Pedagogy.

The two sentences have one thing in common, namely how to achieve the
desired goals of the theory, it's just that the concept is different.
Example:
text-based learning. This includes context building, modeling, building text in
groups and building text independently.
Sample activities in the classroom

In the video sample of an activity in a genre-based classroom approach,

teacher discuss how description text uses GBA, including :

- BKOF (building knowledge of Text)

text description, the teacher explains what is the text description, the structure of the text,
how to make a text description.

- MOT (Modeling of Text)

The teacher gives an example and asks the students to read a text description about
borobudur after they finish reading the teacher will ask the students questions about the text.
- JCOT (Joint construction of Text)
The teacher makes groups and asks students to look for the descriptive text, and each
group must understand what is described. The group representative came forward to
what the other group described and the teacher gave a few questions to the group.

- ICOT (Independent construction of Text)

The teacher asks all students what is the meaning and purpose of the description. And
students are asked to make a descriptive text which will later read the results of their
writing in front of other students.

Conclusion
Genre-based approaches, where teaching and learning focuses on
the understanding and production of selected genres of texts, have
been identified by Rodgers (2001). This approach is a learning
approach that helps students become more competent in language
In summary this model of language learning shows that social
interaction enables language students to develop:
a resource for making meaning
a tool for interpreting and organizing reality
knowledge about language
