ACTIVITY 5: LEADERSHIP

Results from the test shows that I have an INFP-T Personality, which is also called as a
“Mediator”. My dominant traits are more on being Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Prospecting,
and Turbulent behavior.

1. Determine what is your leadership style according to your personality.

An INFP-T personality has a tolerant leadership style. Mediators are empathetic
and idealistic. As an empathetic leader, we like to connect and understand the people
around us. We value fairness and are open to each employees’ opinion and feedback. As
an idealist, we see people in a positive manner and would initially give them a good first
impression and the benefit of the doubt.

2. Identify your strong and weak areas in becoming a successful leader.

Mediators don’t like conflict and choose harmony over disagreement. It is
considered as a strong asset to prevent further conflicts and misunderstandings between
the employees in the office. This could also lead to stronger bonds of the team and more
efficient work performance of everyone.

Mediators can easily adapt at working environment and to socialize with the team.
They value the feedbacks and concerns of the higher-ups and try to provide solution for
it. They are passionate in their work. However too much could lead to exhaustion and loss
of interest especially if they feel overwhelmed with many tasks at hand. In addition, bad
criticism could lead to shutting themselves down. As INFPs are more into Feelings,
criticisms may not be handled well, and they may lose their confidence in themselves. As
someone who is more self-conscious on the things that was assigned to them, the
pressure and stress might go overboard. Having a turbulent personality would lead to self-
isolation which is not efficient for management operations because management is more
of a teamwork rather than working on their own.

3. Research on how to develop/improve what you believe is your “weakest” personality

type relative to the ideal Leader Personality Type.

I believe that the weakest personality relative to the ideal Leader Personality Type
is having an Introvert Personality. Based on the website of 16Personalities, the ideal
Leader Personality Type are ESTJ and ENTJ, which are the exact opposite of INFP
personality. To improve an Introvert Personality, the first that must be done is to have a
strong mindset and the person must be open for help when needed. Introverts tend to
solve the problem on their own which may slow down the performance and affect the
flow of work in the team. We must think that it is okay to get help from others as
collaborating of ideas may lead to a much better outputs.

4. Are leaders born or made?

In my opinion, leaders are made because they are built from the experiences they
have been through. They are made because not all was born with characteristics of a
leader. They acquire certain characteristics as they grow old to lead others beside them.
There are set of skills that was learned by a person to be capable to lead. Everyone is
capable to be a leader as long as they have the desire to grow and influence their
members.
