English Orientation Program (EOP)

What is EOP?

The ‘English Orientation Program (EOP)’ is a 2 week English


language skills foundation building, pre sessional program for
the one year ‘Global Leadership Course’ for Jeju Civil servants,
held annually at the Human Resources Develop Center.

Why EOP?

The one year ‘Global Leadership Course’ includes an English


Language Development Component for the purpose of
improving the English language skills of Jeju civil servants, to
prepare them with the necessary English language solutions
required for dealing with foreign tourists and foreign residents in
the workplace.
The Pre-sessional ‘English Orientation Program’ prepares
students with the basic English language skills in the areas of
reading, writing, speaking, listening, presentation, critical
thinking, study skills and much more.
Students who complete the ‘English Orientation Program’ will
develop a good English language skill foundation, a strong
confidence and the right learning attitude that will prepare them
for the one year ‘Global Leadership Course’.

EOP Content
The 2 week ‘English Orientation Program (EOP)’ provides
students with the necessary information and skills required for
success in the ‘Global Leadership Course’.

Students will learn :


- the overall aims of the ‘Global Leadership Course’
- the individual student goals required for personal success
in the ‘Global Leadership Course’
- the English language foundation skills necessary for
success in the English language component of the ‘Global
Leadership Course’ in the following areas:

1. general conversational skills focused on daily topics


2. Pronunciation
3. effective listening and notetaking
4. reading and critical thinking
5. writing paragraphs which narrate and describe,
6. writing journals/ report writing;
7. English Language study skills (Homework How-to)
8. ESL and skills for group work
9. oral presentation skills
10. discussion skills /opinion sharing on daily topics
11. Introduction to Opic (ESL skill requirements)
