PHILOSOPHY AND ETHICAL- PRELIM

Activity no. 1

•Cite examples of how philosophy can be a principle of sufficient reason or non-contradiction?

- According to Aristotle, first philosophy deals with ontology and first principles of whichthe principle of
non-contradiction is the firmest. Aristotle says that without principle ofnon-contradiction we could not
know anything we do know. Presumably, we could notdemarcate the subject matter of any of the
special sciences, for example, biology ormathematics, and we would not be able to distinguish between
what something is, forexample human being or rabbit, and what it is like, for example pale or white.
Without it,Aristotle notes, beginners in philosophy who are interested in the truth would be off on awild
goose chase.
