Besides the effort you put in your study, choosing a learning environment is also

extremely important for you to study better. There are several students claim that
it is better to attend to a university which is near or in their hometown while
other argue that it is the best to study in a college or university far from home.
Before rendering my position, I think it is essential to explore both sides of the hot
issue.
To begin with, on the one side of the coin, there are many reasons for supporting
students to choose a university in or near their hometown to study. Firstly, it will
save rather much money for students to study nearby their hometown. In other
words, it is more economical because students do not have to spend a lot of
money on daily transportation or air or train travel to go back to their hometown
on vacation. Undoubtedly, if they do not have to move out to live in a dome or a
campus so it will help them to save some other amount of money. Moreover, the
student’s extracurricular activities can involve the family. If the students decide to
attend a college within a three-hour driving radius, their family can join in their
home games if they participate in sports or attend their concert or play if they
perform arts.
On the other flip side of the coin, other students love being out of their comfort
zone. They think that college time may be the only time they leave their
hometown so if staying home is not about saving money, just go away. They love
the idea of traveling across the country for college, to experience a different
state, culture or climate. Moreover, if they have the willingness to consider
universities outside of their geographic comfort zone, it might open up more
academic options for them as well.
To conclude, despite the fact that attending to a university nearby your
hometown may be more economical, some people still think that if we only go to
college once, so why don’t we turn the time in the college into an adventure to
explore a different part of the country. I would always recommend going out of
your comfort zone not only to expand your perspective but also teach you what
self-responsibility is of being detached from your family and friends, all of these
elements will enable resilience and maturity for the student.
