People view Hedonism in a negative way for it justify limitation abuse as long as that certain

thing gives them pleasure. People probably think that having this kind of mindset would lead a
man to sin such as greed, lust, envy, gluttony, and sloth. It would only defile his soul – his all-
over health for none of the Hedonists think about it anyway. For Hedonists, life is about
obtaining and indulging in pleasure because life is limited. The mantra of this school of thought
is the famous, "Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die." The reality of life isn’t like this.
And if we truly wanted to be genuine in our happiness, we must also experience all kinds of
hardships in life. Come to think of it, if you were to do all the pleasure you love with no
limitations at all, personally I would think of myself being wasted. I have done nothing
productive at all but do pleasures in life, and these pleasures wouldn’t even give me satisfaction
after the long way of hardships. There are also benefits of experiencing hurdles in life, and that’s
what makes us humans. This elucidates the impression that as humans, we should also try to face
the reality that it’s not all about pleasure.

However, if we dig deeper and think out of the box, trying to understand why certain people
have thought of hedonists, we might probably understand them. We, somehow, come to a point
in our life where we thought about this philosophy as well. But Hedonism is simply the idea that
pleasure is good, and maximizing pleasure while minimizing suffering is a worthwhile goal. I
ought to just expand my very own pleasure to the detriment of you and your pleasure, by taking
and exploiting you for granted, certainly that would be self-centered. But that’s not Hedonism,
that is just the false view of that philosophy making it as if negative for one’s self.

Maybe if we try to not interfere with one’s life and happiness, we would not have misunderstood
any of their philosophies or way of thinking. We should also remind ourselves that we should
accept everyone having different views as long as it doesn't trample, mock, or violate humanity.
