Discussion 1: Define Ohm’s law.

Ohm’s Law states that the voltage is directly proportional to the current flowing on it and the
Resistors remain constant when the temperature is constant.

Discussion 2: Discuss the effect of resistor in a circuit based on experiment A.

When there is no resistor in the circuit, the bulb lights the brightest. After the 47 resistor is added,
the light becomes a little bit dimmer due to the decrease in current. The higher the resistance, the
lower the current will be.

Discussion 3: In experiment B (the relationship between voltage and circuit), why is there a change in
current when a resistor is added in a circuit?
There is a change in current when a resistor is added in a circuit because of the relationship
between voltage and circuit as if a resistor is added to this circuit in a series method, the circuit's
current will be reduced. As a result, the resistor does reduce the current because the current flow
in the circuit is controlled by the resistor. If the voltage is constant, the current in the circuit will
also remain the same.

Discussion 4: In experiment C (measurement of voltage and current for various resistors), does the
resistance obtained from the plot of V against I is the same as resistance values of a resistor used in
the circuit? Explain your findings.
NO, the resistance from the plot of V against i is not the same as the resistance values of a resistor
used in the circuit. This is because the resistor has a tolerance value which is never exactly as the
marked value and indicates how much the actual value changes. Its value may be affected with
time, humidity, temperature and other factors. Hence, the experimental value of resistance
obtained is not same as the resistance values of the resistor used

Discussion 5: What are the precaution steps from the experiment?

1. The hand must be dried before handling the circuit.

2. The value of voltage must be in the range of resistor to avoid it from burning.

3. The ammeter must be connected in series connection to the bulb or resistor to get
accurate reading.

4. The voltmeter must be connected in parallel connection to the bulb or resistor to get
accurate reading.

Discussion 6: What is your conclusion on the experiment?

From the experiment, the voltmeter was used to measure the voltage through the circuit while
the ammeter was used to measure the amount of current flow inside the circuit. The voltage
across the resistor increases when the value of resistance increases while the current flows and
the voltage across the bulb in the circuit decreases. In conclusion, the value of the resistor in the
circuit increases, the brightness of the bulb decreases. Thus, this experiment states that the
voltage is directly proportional to the current which obeyed Ohm’s Law.
